    (More) bikes on planes

It would be nice if I could give you a nice consistent answer but as always, it depends on the luck of the draw. I have shipped hundreds of bikes in the last two years with the general feed-back being that the airlines are getting stricter. Volumetric weight plays a big part with the airlines...

How long before we see a zero bag policy introduced?

With Ryanair trialling a zero bag policy for certain flights, I wonder how long it will take before JQ, DJ & TR introduce a similar policy. It would make perfect sense on some of the early morning flights.

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

SYD/LAX I had Richard Branson sitting behind me. I was in 1K whilst he was in 3K. It must have pained him to be flying QF but until November comes along he does not have a lot of choice. And I think probably the only time I'll ever be sitting ahead of him...(you have to love duty travel!!) He...

Airlines shed weight as fuel costs soar

Be prepared for other airlines to follow suit. The bi-lateral luggage agreement that exists with all countries whose airlines fly into the Americas that has, up until now, provided a VERY generous luggage allowance for economy class passengers is coming to a close. Triggered by 2 things: 1)...

    Recommendations? Getting unaccompanied luggage home

Hi Dot, Interested to know how you decided to get your luggage home? My obvious recommendation would be to use Personal Porter. Let me know how you got on. Cheers

BA to no longer carry surfboards (and certain other sporting equipment)after 6 Nov 07

Re: BA to no longer carry surfboards (and certain other sporting equipment)after 6 No Very well picked up...that was a dangerous mistake to make!

BA to no longer carry surfboards (and certain other sporting equipment)after 6 Nov 07

Re: BA to no longer carry surfboards (and certain other sporting equipment)after 6 No The "apparant" lack of anywhere to surf in the UK and the god awful weather, then all the more reason for those "few" surfers to have to venture abroad to find the break they are after. But BA will continue...

BA to no longer carry surfboards (and certain other sporting equipment)after 6 Nov 07

Re: BA to no longer carry surfboards (and certain other sporting equipment)after 6 No I think I must be the only thrilled with this news. The more the airlines continue to alienate their loyal passengers with perpetually increasing luggage restrictions the more luggage delivery services start...

Skip the check-in queues, but at a price

Its the elderly passengers that will suffer the most. Managing 1 suitcase is difficuly enough for them, managing 2 will be impossible...espceically at the destination airport. Either that or they change their packing habits...and have you ever told your granny that she can't do something that...

Skip the check-in queues, but at a price

If you choose your luggage delivery company carefully (ie find someone that specialises in door-to-door luggage delivery, as opposed to a freight forwarder or shipper for example) all paperwork is completed for you, the price you are quoted is the only price you pay so no additional payments and...

Skip the check-in queues, but at a price

The irony with BA's new policy is that if you do carry excess luggage you might as well do it properly. Absoltely no point being a kilo over when you could be 23kg's over for the same price!

Skip the check-in queues, but at a price

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I was not referring to actual weight allowances per class which are detailed as per your post. What I was referring to was the new luggage weight allowance for individual pieces of luggage being no greater than 23kg.

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

It is a completely new seat. As for replacing 747 Skybeds with A380 Skybeds , unfortunately not quite as simple as that. Boeing & Airbus make life complicated for each other like that! NM is correct as well. The demand for J seats, would not warrant installing the new Skybed with the extra...

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

You assume correctly. There is a privacy divider (electric of course) that can be lowered and raised to chat with your partner if you'd like. The seats cannot turn in on each other though. The dining table however is large enough for 2 people to dine together. The ottoman is a proper seat, with...

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

Everthing on the First Class suite is electric and all operated from the console you can see mounted on the side partition....window shades, lights, TV monitor, the seat recline & swivel.

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

Your right, clever photography and the use of appropriate models always makes the seat larger than it actually is. The technological boundaries were really pushed when desgning this seat however, to maximise the space. The seats for example are mounted on a single beam as opposed to the normal...

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

Those pictures do them no justice at all...I promise you, when you see them in the flesh, or at least see larger & more detailed pictures of them, you will be impressed.

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

You do lose a little leg room, but again the back is of the seat is moulded to maximise the use of all the avaialble space. Unless you relax with your knees locked together, you'll lose leg space. If you relax and "lounge" yourself, then even the tallest people should be comfortable. Those...

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

Seat pitch still the same...the need to cram them in is as important as ever. The seat though has this clever articulated recline, which means you do not encrouch into the space of the passenger that sits behind you as much., whilst still acheiving the same angle of recline. Tricky to explain...

    Qantas Unveils A380 Seat Details

At last....they reveal it. I left Qantas in July '06 and this was the program I was fortunate to be working on, although up until now I have had to remain quiet as to the product offering. The First Class Suites are pure luxury, beautifully finished and with no compromise on the materials and...
