QF Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

TIL while you can’t request “on departure/at the airport upgrades” for multiple pax on Qantas’ website, if you call them they can add that option manually, regardless of pax count. 😮

Bonus points on Qantas flights for Points Club members

Also didn’t get this despite being PC+ and subscribed to all emails in my profile. Guess it’s targeted?

What is the upgrade logic on multi-leg flights when first leg is full but not the second?

Does it contradict it though? The T&Cs only address upgrades at the gate/airport, they don’t specifically state you can’t get a leg specific upgrade before check-in.

What is the upgrade logic on multi-leg flights when first leg is full but not the second?

Right, apologies. In any case from my call earlier with Hobart team and other peoples experiences here on this thread - it seems it’s not all segments or nothing though? Will report back findings when the flight happens.

What is the upgrade logic on multi-leg flights when first leg is full but not the second?

I don’t think this applies because I couldn’t choose upgrade at gate due to multiple pax on PNR.

What is the upgrade logic on multi-leg flights when first leg is full but not the second?

Rang Qantas in the end and got through to Hobart. They said both sectors are considered and if one doesn’t have availability but the other does, they will still offer the upgrade for that second segment only. Interesting enough, they also hinted that upgrade priority takes not only status and...

What is the upgrade logic on multi-leg flights when first leg is full but not the second?

I’m aware the upgrade request is for both legs when requesting, I’m trying to work out if it will process the second leg still if the first leg is full but the second isn’t - after requesting both.

What is the upgrade logic on multi-leg flights when first leg is full but not the second?

Sorry if this has already been asked (search is a bit finicky sometimes), I have an upgrade request in on QF1 from Y+ (WP). On EF the loadings show J0 from SYD-LHR and SYD-SIN, but J9 on SIN-LHR. If there is no availability on the combined legs, but there is availability on one leg, does the...

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

Do we know if it’s possible to switch out a paid seat for a released seat, if one is approved for release? That is, if it’s a return flight on the same booking and the return leg has I9 availability now? Alternatively if a new booking was made for that return leg as a one way - can an agent...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Domestic routes to be added by end of year according to the FAQ, unless connected to an international route.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Casually paranoid when this goes live all the remaining open seats in J will get taken by points whales so my 1 year prior platinum upgrade request from Y+ to J chances will vanish 😭 With my flight in first week of May, expecting it to be affected by CR+

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

No matter how you cut it though, this will result in classic upgrade rewards/request chances dropping even further - as if the lottery wasn’t enough, especially if new award tier is taken from actual inventory. Of course the trade off is guaranteed seat > chance of seat, etc.

    Platinum shadow seat

Just booked a SYD-MEL and MEL-SYD leg for next week, no shadows this time either. Just as another data point. Will try again at T-80

    Platinum shadow seat

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately it still didn’t block even when removing or changing the FF in EF. Oh well!

    Platinum shadow seat

Just tried putting us A and C, and B didn’t block on EF. Guess not every route has it by default I suppose, but the flight (QF2) is in May so still a ways out.

    Platinum shadow seat

Sorry to unearth this conversation, but I was wondering for people who had experienced shadow seating with partners/+1, do you put yourself (the WP) adjacent to the empty seat to try and trigger it? For example as I’m the WP, if I put myself window and my partner (Bronze) in the middle, would...

    Upgrade priority after status change

I just spoke to Qantas premium team about this and they said when you change status tiers (up or down) the system automatically updates the upgrade requests on your account as well. It can take some time though, and my booking hadn’t reflected that yet. They were able to go in and tweak it to...
