Yeah, there was a deal running at the start of the pandemic that would have gotten me Qantas Gold off my Velocity Platinum. I really missed out on that one.

I never understood the whole “sector” thing. It just kinda happened. Most of my trips that got me from silver to gold and then platinum in a 2 year period were SYD-BNE (the lions share. Would do it every week), maybe SYD-MLB twice a year and SYD-DME (Moscow) via Etihad twice a year. 1640856848...

I’m such a sucker for the bag tags. I remember when I got the platinum status it felt so prestigious getting that nice box with everything in it. I’m an easy mark for the airlines.

The family pooling is useful. My wife and 3 kids all have their velocity funnelling into mine. I keep suggesting a family vacation 🤣
