Is credit card churning coming to an end?

It would be uncommercial for them to just limit someone to one credit card their whole lifetime. That would significantly limit their revenue / addressable market. Some churn is useful. They have introduced staggered points reward across multiple years now which I think is helping their cause...

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

very keen to understand this as well. I suspect they will - I remember a while back when they issued a $300 credit for dining. When the restaurant charged me the amount as part of the booking (Amex system credited me the $300) but I had to cancel the booking so reversed everything, i.e...

    Forced account closure

FWIW, I had a similar experience when I first got my amex platinum card. They suspended my card due to "large" spend until I provided proof of income, etc. No issues since then. Could it be that you didn't provide the details they needed in time and they closed it?

    UA Polaris class

FWIW, just took the business class from SYD to SFO. Agree with most of the earlier comments. The service is average (they just got attendants that really should have retired decades ago), the food is okay - I mean, I think Qantas business worse IMO. The lie flat beds are decent and the gel...

First Time Upgrade on United - How?

Not sure if anyone has mentiond already but you can shortcut yourself to Gold status using the new HSBC Star Alliance credit card - you need to hit a minimum spend and then you can choose which airline you want the gold to. From there you should be able to get slightly ahead of the upgrade cue -...

    Income requirement for Citibank Prestige?

    Income requirement for Citibank Prestige?

they have pretty much dropped their income requirement. The card benefits have deterioated so much that its not really an exclusive card anymore. Back a few years ago, it was one of the best value cards around but they downgraded heaps of benefits: 1) one free night at hotel 2) 2 airport...

Sense of Monthly Spend on Platinum Charge?

thanks thats helpful. I was trying to search for the data (basis of my initial post) but couldn't find any threads detailing average monthly / annual spend of the platinum charge cardholder. FWIW, I did find something relating to the U.S market but its way outdated now. Appreciate your reply!

Sense of Monthly Spend on Platinum Charge?

thanks - aware of the travel benefits and I do spend a bit of time on the road! I used to be a citibank prestige card holder and thought that was a really good card but they kept cutting their benefits and now won't discount their annual fee ($700) so hence why i'm looking at the Platinum...
