Jetstar to commence nonstop services between Australia and the Cook Islands

I'd give my back teeth for SYD-PPT direct. I'm surprised that neither Air Tahiti Nui or Qantas have gone for it. Hopefully once QF get their hands on the A321XLR they'll look at it.

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I've got some Avios from the UK that are going to be wasted if I don't use them. I need to fly SYD-AKL next June so want to use them for that. Do I need to book these through the BA website, and if so, is it still possible to claim QFF SCs if flying on a Qantas aircraft with a QF flight number...

Qantas Fiji Call Centre - vacuous drones

I used to work as a travel agent in the late 90s / early 00s, just as online booking was beginning to bite and airlines began screwing us over.... The irony of them know having to learn about dealing with the public's "complicated" requests is delicious to say the least.

Qantas Fiji Call Centre - vacuous drones

I think Joyce is more interested in saving money than making it, sadly :(

I'm going to say something nice about QF

True - The fact I was absolutely stunned it was as simple as it should be does say a lot. But then I've been in Europe for a while and had the full Ryanair treatment, so my expectations have been rather beaten down, to say the least.

Qantas Fiji Call Centre - vacuous drones

That's disgusting. I don't know what's so difficult about allowing us to book EXST online? It could literally be achieved using a check box in the passenger entry section that scripts it from the front end to the GRS using the already entered passenger info. It's total BS. I'm fortunate in...

I'm going to say something nice about QF

Yep. Had confirmation email through while I was on the phone, and the website too. Pretty impressed tbqh.

I'm going to say something nice about QF

No big news but just wanted to report on a positive experience with QF's call centre. Called to change an international booking as couldn't get my card to go through on the website, where the fare difference to pay was $84. After several attempts I gave up and braced myself for the call centre...

ABC 4 Corners on Qantas - Monday 5 September

Agree. That was a good, valid question and it was clear Joyce knows full damn well it's indefensible, but just can't bring himself to confront it. I'd like to see him taken up on the live interview offer. Overall, I don't feel the show really broke any new ground about anything most people...

MH starting to look at replacement for A330s

Saves having to fund retraining of their A330 pilots for A350 ops as well I guess. It'll be interesting to see what cabin config they go with. The extra legroom Y section in their A350s is great value... as much legroom as a lot of prem. econ products but without the bells and whistles.

    Qantas brand badly tarnished

I wouldn't say it's all that bad. None of the airlines have really stood out during Covid, and in the wider world outside of flying, most companies' customer service (esp call centres) have taken a nosedive off a cliff into a nice solid pad of concrete, while Qantas has several advantages. *...

Rex accuses Qantas of predatory behaviour, withdraws from routes

The Saabs are a joke. Qantas squandered their relief money on their 737 fantasy, when that money really should have gone into reinforcing their core regional market by starting a realistic plan to phase out the Saabs and move to ATR-42s. It might even let them offer a realistically competitive...

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I'm trying to figure out how to offset an int'l flight on QF, booked through the QF website to get the leaf toward green tier. Can't for the life of me figure out how to do it? Can't see any option in flight management to do this. Am I missing something, or can you only offset outbound flights...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

I'd be very surprised if the SYD-SIN-LHR A380 doesn't stay around. The amount of traffic between SYD-LHR is absolutely massive given it's two cities on opposite sides of the world, and the small Y class on the Sunrise flight wouldn't nearly cover it. Y class on the A380s pre-Covid was often...

Rex accuses Qantas of predatory behaviour, withdraws from routes

I believe QF Freight use JQ flights to move a lot of cargo too - don't know whose balance sheet it'll show up on but on the ground it surely contributes to making some otherwise marginal JQ flights more valuable to the group overall.

Rex accuses Qantas of predatory behaviour, withdraws from routes

QF knows they'll still get tons of repeated business, especially in J class, pretty much regardless of how terrible the service is, as they're the only Australian carrier to have anything approaching a proper international network and proper alliance membership for easy interlining, which for...

Travelling to Iran and future US travel

AFAIK visits to Saudi Arabia won't affect ETIAS. Saudi Arabia is one of the "goodies" in American eyes, so shouldn't be a problem. Tons of American and European migrant workers there ("expats") who are back and forth all the time, so likely no one will even bat an eyelid. Just make sure your...

QantasLink retains Lord Howe Island licence until 2025

I wouldn't rule QF out of acquiring ATRs, if not directly then through one of their subsidiaries under the QL umbrella. Their Dash-8s won't live forever and they need something in that size range for regional connections. The ATR is pretty much the only realistic option these days. * ATR-42/72...

    Cebu Pacific: 459 seat A330neo

The cynic in me would assume that EASA would (in the case of the A330neo) as it would help Airbus demonstrate the "flexibility" of their aircraft, as thus benefit a major European industry. I'd assume that the FAA would do the same with, say, the 787 for exactly the same reason for a major...
