I personally wouldn’t. It’s an overnight flight and the service is not much different to J. The bedding is better, however as it’s an overnight flight there is a basic supper menu and breakfast, both of which are not overly impressive.

Yeah the wines are a disgrace! In the Singapore F lounge unless there’s a premium wine by the decanter, I head to the QR lounge and in Sydney the Emirates J lounge always has better wines

This is disappointing! I would have thought they would offer something like the SQ saver and advantage type award fare differentiation.

That’s sad 😢- I wonder if there’s an avenue to discuss it via VIP team. The team has historically just been limited to flight bookings & fixes etc.

Totally agree! In some years I’ve had 7,000 SCs and got absolutely nothing other than the Christmas wine / gin. It’s the luck of draw and it’s not even correlated to spend / flights as some get a lot from Qantas scrapping over the line to P1 and others get very little.

I would book to LAX and worry about the internal / short hop flights later.

Yep, that’s their trademark I hear lots of people get invites to events, gifts onboard, CL lounge passes, a bottle of wine after the flight etc. and I’ve only had one invite to a dinner.

I think this is precisely the problem. First class should mean the very best. If that means some excellent wines from Bordeaux or Barolo that should be the way.

Totally agree with this comment, I think there are very few flyers who would chase P1. However I think if you have the volume of travel to get to P1, the question (or dilemma) is do you split your spend between Qantas (and get to WP) and another carrier like SQ (PPS)? That’s the dilemma I have...
