Middle East Airspace Closures [QF9 to LHR cancelled]

Anything to dump on Perth, really. We are not wanted by the rest of the country, and nothing we do will ever be worthwhile, or if it is worthwhile, acknowledged. Qantas flying successful international routes out of Perth runs counter to that narrative. 1713060729 Now excuse me while I look at...

    Seat poacher

Yep, first time I flew on a 787 when I got to the economy row and it started in the 40s I had to do a double take. Same thing happened recently on an EK A380 on the bottom floor. I knew I was at the back, but again the seat numbering started in the 40s. Better that people are checking as they...

Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

I should have gone with the fritters this morning. Unfortunately Light Breakfast was quite underwhelming. The more you know! It was certainly a busy morning though. I had to go on a waitlist for a table when I arrived, which was unexpected. It was less than a 10 minute wait though.

March 31 member here, account seems to be fine. I've taken a screenshot of my digital card just in case though, given I have a trip coming up this weekend I figured it was better to be safe than sorry.

Lets talk about the 787 windows

Reasons for sleeping could be many and varied, from changes in time zone to simply having a bad night the night before, or even not being good flyers and wanting to simply wake up at the other end. But why is your personal choice to have the window open more important than someone else's...

Lets talk about the 787 windows

This is my point. Mr H made the same comment about flyers who want to sleep during the day earlier in the thread. It's a ridiculous solution to something that is really just a them problem. Just as there are realistic alternatives for those who want some shuteye during the day (wearing an eye...

Lets talk about the 787 windows

Are they charging extra for the window seat? Or charging extra for the benefit of selecting your seat? This whole argument is getting a bit ridiculous. As jb747 stated, if you don't like the locked window policy on commercial 787 flights you are more than welcome to fly private. Mr H is also...

Qantas putting A330s onto MEL-CNS on Saturdays

Seeing fewer and fewer A330s on PER-MEL routes on any day of the week lately.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Nice. That is different though, given you had a reason to be in Singapore. How many people (who are booking with Qantas) are going to choose that route vs the direct flights offered by Qantas, JAL, or ANA though? People flying LCCs don't count as they are not competing on price here. I maintain...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Would be nice. I'd much prefer non-stop to Tokyo than having to connect in SIN/HKG/Some airport in Aus. I actually flew that 767 route before it was canned. I've made use of the ANA route, although they are taking that one off the table from April. I'm sure it's part of their calculus, but...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

The east coast never remembers that people actually live in Perth. Airlines schedules, sports fixtures, concert tours, etc. To live in Perth is to suffer in paradise. As for the actual discussion about ports in Europe; given that Qantas already serves three locations direct from Perth I can't...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Received a personalised P1 welcome note on my flight today. Which is curious, as I'm not P1. I wonder if they just had a bunch of spares that needed to be used?

Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

Incredibly, I was able to use it to book an open-jaw trip in Asia this week. I fully expected to be on the phone trying to get the itinerary booked, but I have tickets in-hand and upgrade requests in where appropriate.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

This one was super interesting to me. It looks like a complete acknowledgement of two things: Qantas' dealing with disruptions has been abysmal from both an operational perspective, and from customers' financial perspective. While the listed benefits are pretty good, QFF members have been very...

Network Aviation (Qantas subsidiary) pilots strike

Have I missed all of the press coverage about the union canceling today's strike action so that they can assist with moving pax up north if needed as a result of (now ex) cyclone Lincoln? Talk about an act of good faith!

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Regular Perth vego flyer here. The Plant-Based Dining options haven't extended to domestic menus yet, unfortunately. There are occasionally vegetarian options, but I never chance it. Domestic catering is way below par in general, and if you know you're going to have a meal on the flight imho...
