Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Optimistic about VA. Devil will be in the detail though for us holding VFF points / travel bank etc.

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

Absolutely. That's been my view all along - they are trying to reverse engineer a position whereby involuntary cancellations will incur the voluntary cancellation fee. I couldn't see this standing up if challenging on a purely contractual basis (not to mention on a common sense and fair play...

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

I haven't read if you are willing to pay the $250 pp refund processing fee, but just be aware that this applies for both voluntary and involuntary cancellations.

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

Nail on the head. I have managed to get full refunds rom booking, agoda, trip etc - these are the only TA which have been difficult and are attempting to charge on top for involuntary cancellations. FYI: they have updated / clarified their T&Cs, to emphasis that an involuntary cancellation fee...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

My current thinking: better chance of VA surviving with PS in charge, than the last guy... I - and this is just my gut - is that VA will survive. Would think more likely that current shareholder(s) are diluted with a new investor(s).

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

FYI: Slightly off topic but: 1. I must say it's great to have a group of people in similar (unfortunate) circumstances. I've spent the better part of 3 weeks trying to unwind 6 weeks of travelling / relocating to the other side of the world. It has been incredibly stressful at times, but its...

Etihad policy on rebooking for pax affected by COVID-19

Has anyone booked through an OTA and managed to resolve directly with EY? Happy to take a rebooking...it's for a flight home, so do need to make my way home at some stage!!

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

When lodging the charge back, what is the process and chances of success? Is it that you say that flight has been cancelled and you've been unable to get a refund etc? Trying to consider options for my Etihad flight booked through Aunty Betty which will invariably be cancelled in two and a half...

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

Thank you, that is really appreciated. 1586315349 Perhaps, but the issue here is that FC / Aunt Betty are then throwing their own fee on top (including instances where airlines are refunding involuntary cancellations).

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

I will only ever book directly with airlines now...even if it is more expensive. One thing that is even worse, I have flights to return home (yes, that means, expiring lease, packing stuff, etc etc) and Aunt Betty won't even deal with me until 24 hours before the flight. If, going by what I...

Flight Centre refunds for cancelled flights

I have a flight with Aunt Betty (FC subsidiary), who are also adopting a similar approach (ie involuntary cancellation = $250 pp Aunt Betty fee or a credit note for $55 per person...). I wonder if a flight is cancelled, if the flight was paid on a credit card, could you charge back claiming not...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Bit the bullet and transferred before the above. VA are in trouble.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I have just checked my SQ ios app, and it is showing as ticketed! Could be a website issue... I hope.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I have a pre-existing VFF redemption booking on SQ for October (booked at end of Jan). I have just gone into the booking on SQ's website and it shows as confirmed but ticket not issued. This worries me greatly. Thinking of cancelling for the $60 fee and then transferring to SQ. Am I being...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Yes, I'm aware. I quoted it above. Of which I queried the accuracy and sought other' views. I didn't search for an answer elsewhere, given it's my view that this is esoteric query (when are partner awards confirmed and irrevocable - when you book or when you fly?). Happy to be contradicted if...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Keen to hear people's views on whether booking a partner airline award with VFF points is a viable alternative to transferring to KF?

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

I would think it's more likely that a PE fund would acquire Virgin if it becomes distressed or even prior to this. Sharks are probably beginning to circle, but all of that becomes moot if PS can pull it off. I'm 60:40 to think he will. I've seen (and worked on) many examples of distressed...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Is that correct? The points leave your balance and fees are paid at point of redemption, then flight is confirmed with partner airline? Does VA hold on to same until the flight?
  19. H

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

All - I wonder is an alternative to transferring to SQ, is rather to book a redemption on a partner airline for some time next year. If i'm correct (and open to correction), you could: (1) take the flight as booked; (2) pay a fee of $60 (per passenger) to cancel the redemption and have the...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Query: would VA's shareholders actually sit idly allowing it to fail and their investment be zeroed? I understand that given where we are with the corona virus and world travel, the usual rules don't apply: but what would the commercial sense be in having an investment such as VA collapse? This...
