Just returned from a 4 day visit to Yangon aka Rangoon. Was on a cruise ship. Tourist conditions not too favourable, although the people are really nice. Roads are awful.
I didn't smoke then either but don't recall it annoyed me too much. I was too busy snogging multiple glasses of Veuve Clicquot . After all it was first class and a real bonus to get as I was an airline sales employee then.
I was fortunate to fly the 747 in it's original configuration of First Class/Economy class/ upper deck was the Captain Cook Lounge.
