    Fly Ahead International Business

Not even as p1. They can look on the day but it depends on loading. Admittedly for me it was just before Christmas and the flights were full

QF Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

QF 11 / 12 J to F both ways, about 6 days before. Currently have lots of points but agree, incremental step up from J. Bed is very comfortable. And the food / wine was good

Last Minute Sydney->LAX Upgrade + Noob Questions

Twice I have been upgraded at the Gate, when attempting to board and getting rejected. Unfortunately no option, although PE is not bad

Qantas deliberately hiding QF awards to QFF and pushing JQ seats instead?

The multi city tool is your friend. Lots of AA / AS rewards that you can use qantas points to redeem

Qantas deliberately hiding QF awards to QFF and pushing JQ seats instead?

Just completed a trip for 2 to Europe in J on points Nov/ Early Dec, and 3 Y tickets to Canada via LAX on points, admittedly leaving on the 24th Dec but availability still there a week before the flight. Booked a J points ticket from BNE to AKL via Sydney on 22 Dec about 3 weeks out too. Also...

An Open Letter to my fellow AFF members - External Influence on this website

It’s interesting just how much some posters dislike Qantas. It’s works for me as I have status, fly mostly to North America and New Zealand , and my large number of points helps with holidays / upgrades. I have flown a lot over the last 6 months and have noticed a big step up in service /...

    Grange in the F lounge

For the first time whilst taking my order for breakfast yesterday she looked at my boarding pass and said I should sit in the roped off area, so I guess it’s something you have to do yourself if it is busy. In London and Singapore I have been escorted to a reserved spot.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I have had great service, on my last few flights, Mostly international. Having said that I am easy going and not too needy. Flew JAL to LHR recently, loved the food / service / daytime flights but definitely prefer the Qantas J seats.

Jetstar 9 hour difference with no alternative, and no compensation? Why no change to Qantas??

You can even try getting Jetstar to change you to the Adelaide flight, but might even be less than your current flights.

Qantas or Singapore Airlines BNE - BKK regularly

For me, I have far more options to earn QF points, so that initially drove my choice. I also fly mostly to NZ and the US. It’s good to have status with an airline where you have a lot of points, so you can leverage them

How long before a planned flight should you buy a ticket?

Definitely not always cheaper to book in advance, for example flights to yyz dropped by about 1500 hundred return about 3 months before my travel date. Good thing is unless you are on a cheap ticket you can change to a cheaper fare and pay a small penality

Which lounge was nice surprise to you?

Air France Schengen Area business class lounge is amazing, great food, good champagne and a lovely space that was mostly empty.

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

I recently flew to Lhr with a JAL classic reward J flight but asked for for release of a classic reward flight via Singapore. It didn’t com through but remained active for weeks and blocked my ability to select seats from Tokyo to London. In the end JAL was great. Flying back on Qantas on a...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I have switched to flying Alaskan if possible over westjet for connections for this reason, west jet can be iffy re luggage allowance when connecting on the return. Wish there was more of a one world footprint in Canada

    Status run to Auckland

I agree somewhat. I have family in NZ and can often tie in work meetings to make it tax deductible. I have also changed all flights to the US to start in NZ, much cheaper, and lets me catch up with friends and family for a few days before. You can mostly add in a stop for a few months so at...
