Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Flew CNS to SYD on Wednesday night, 7:25pm scheduled departure and cabin crew informed us that the new business class menu launched that day. My wife had a truffled mushroom and spinach pasta with a creamy sauce, and I opted for the beef brisket pie. Both nice dishes; the pie's pastry and...

Benefits of virgin Platinum when travelling on Delta

Generally had great experiences with Delta and WP membership. Never been able to snag a comfort plus upgrade, but the benefits of priority check in at airports like LAX/LGA/ORD and lounge access are hugely valued. Never had any issue at the above airports bringing in wife who is Velocity Red, so...

    New lounge trial in DPS

Thanks for sharing this experience! Will definitely fly Qantas next time. Unfortunately on Sunday I had the (dis)pleasure to experience the combination of Virgins narrowbody (737-800) aircraft DPS>SYD and the T/G lounge at DPS. Not recommended.

    Status Credits on Delta Comfort+

From experience, you earn based on original fare purchased. Example from last year: LGA>ORD: purchased economy, then purchased comfort + = 15 Velocity status credits ORD>LGA: purchased comfort + = 30 Velocity status credits

Business amenities on Int. Short haul

Doubt it. Just returned from Bali and they provided small zip up pouches (actually very useful for travel) with toothbrush, eyemask, skincare items, socks and a pen.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Have really enjoyed Virgin's J mealtime offerings on many routes, but flying DPS>SYD last week overnight I was disappointed in the offering. The food wasn't poor quality, rather it felt like there wasn't much thought put into the menu. A small soup was the only choice for 'supper service', and...

Changi Airport security gate check questions

Interesting. Just flew SQ SIN>BNE on the 18th and they still have the agent desk right after security.

DISAPPOINTED WITH SQ A350 BUSINESS BED

I would say most airlines could alleviate the comfort problems with a decent mattress topper.....

    Book the Cook- Recommendations

Ordered book the cook for SIN>BNE on 18 July. Changed from the lobster at the last minute as I was concerned it would be too small (first world problems) Ended up with the Itek Sioh, a Peranakan dish of slow cooked duck with a tamarind sauce. This was an excellent meal; the meat was juicy and...

DISAPPOINTED WITH SQ A350 BUSINESS BED

Just flew SIN>BNE on 18 July, and was well aware of the criticisms around this seat, but was keen for my first A350 flight! In seat mode, the seat was fine, albeit with little legroom. I kept hitting the seatback with my feet. Limited storage however compared to VA/QF product; I really wanted a...

Changi Airport security gate check questions

@desafinado74 There is no dedicated security for first class in T3, just the private check-in area, and a private entrance to immigration. You then exit right in front of the escalators to the lounge. I also find the Changi process of queuing for security at the gate, then queuing for the gate...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

BNE>SYD 10:05 departure Chloe the cabin supervisor was friendly, attentive and helpful, and the meal was excellent. While originally described as a 'vegetable slice', it was more of a cheese and spinach sausage roll. The pastry was flaky, roll was crisp and warm, and fruit sweet and tasty...

Virgin Australia / Delta Codeshare Seat Selection & Web Check-In Issues

All normal. You won't lose those seats. VA/DL know which seats you are in for the other operator's flight, but there's just no way for the customer to access online. Recently did SYD>LAX>JFK return last month. Web checkin was available for VA and DL flights; at bag drop at Sydney, they...

Need two VA sectors ex-Sydney - any advice?

no problems, just my experience. I admire your creativity! I wouldn't have even thought to ask the question!

Need two VA sectors ex-Sydney - any advice?

Nope. I redeemed mine in march, and received no points, status credits, or sector credits. Jump on that ATR to Canberra; just avoid peak $$ times!

    Priority Boarding Fail at SYD

Of course it doesn't matter. In fact some studies have shown planes board much faster if there's no order at all and the plane fills organically. But like others, I don't want to have to wait, and I give my loyalty to one airline for that benefit.

    Priority Boarding Fail at SYD

Indeed. I recently traveled Delta domestically, and their app is fantastic. Up to date gate information, lounge info and amenities by terminal, bag tracking (checked, on plane, off plane, which carousel etc) and live boarding info. Shame about the rest of the experience, but hey, can't have...

    Priority Boarding Fail at SYD

@Warks - same experience. I don't like rushing, so I'm always leaving the lounge before any call to get to the gate by around 10 mins after boarding time. My wife is adamant that we don't leave until they call it, which of late has only been for final call.....which means we're hustling o_O.

    Priority Boarding Fail at SYD

Had a similar experience in Melbourne yesterday; late lounge call, and though PB was called at the gate, there was already a queue of pax in the regular line and the single agent on the gate alternated between priority and regular. I feel sorry for the non PB customers too; can't imagine why...
