    First class upgrade on QF1

We have the same dilemma as the OP, with an added wrinkle. We've put in for a J->F upgrade for 2 pax (I'm SG; this is QF1 SYD-SIN on Nov 24th if anyone feels like looking up loadings; 25K points per person) and one pax has requested a gluten free special meal. Does anyone have any experience of...

New Zealand via Cairo and the Egyptian Gambit

The journey has begun! Just time for a quick snack at the BA lounge in Glasgow before a pleasant short flight down to spend the afternoon at Heathrow waiting for the evening flight to Cairo. At checkin in GLA they wanted to see our Egyptian visas. While digging them out I said I thought VOA was...

New Zealand via Cairo and the Egyptian Gambit

Good to have you all on board! On the way home we're flying via Singapore to get some more QF metal into the mix, and because someone told me things in Singapore stay open late and we can go to some late night hawker markets or something. However we're there from 10pm Saturday to 10am the next...

New Zealand via Cairo and the Egyptian Gambit

Thanks @k_sheep. I think we'll be fine — but it's a bit borderline as tomorrow (Friday) is the weekend, which I hadn't internalised when I found out at the start of this week that Egyptian e-visas now exist. D'oh! Update: applied on 29th October, approved at 6pm on November 1st, just before the...

New Zealand via Cairo and the Egyptian Gambit

By “Egyptian Gambit” I mean the trick of buying cheap tickets ex-CAI and juggling how much time to allocate for transiting CAI to allow for delays vs. wasting too long in a chaotic airport. For us newbies, that's easy as we'll want to have at least a day in the city to have a look around. (And...

New Zealand via Cairo and the Egyptian Gambit

In November my partner and I will be taking our first proper holiday in a couple of years or more, leaving Scotland's rainy early winter behind for three weeks in New Zealand. I'm from NZ and know most of the places we're visiting well; she's been down south in Otago once before but the rest of...

First time through WLG - Tips

Not really, it's a pretty standard airport. Apart from Quickstatus's helpful suggestion  Your post got me thinking, as it'll be my partner's first trip to WLG in a few weeks too. If you're taking a taxi in to the city centre, on a nice day you might consider going around the bays...

Not me this time, as I'll be en route to New Zealand on the 4th.

Qantas and Air NZ announce codeshare partnership

Thanks all for the replies; I guess it's the expected answer and not very surprising. Nonetheless I really don't think it's clear in the QANTAS AND AIR NEW ZEALAND ANNOUNCE CODESHARE DEAL TO MAKE TRAVEL EASIER press release as linked in the first posting in this thread. It alludes to...

Qantas and Air NZ announce codeshare partnership

I have some domestic NZ travel coming up in November and would quite like to book it as QF. It's now late August — has anyone seen any sign of codeshare booking actually becoming available? Trying to book post-Oct-28 WLG-ROT at qantas.com just comes up with no flights available. And I've been...

Renew passport - Does remaining Validity carry forward?

Apparently not, or at least not any more. Someone posted on Twitter about how speedily their renewed passport had arrived. I was going to ask him about the expiry date in his new passport when it became apparent that we temporarily had the ear of an Internal Affairs bigwig with responsibility...

    No cards to international address?

They post cards and coasters to me in Scotland perfectly happily. Not very speedily, but it's not yet required any prodding from my end. I was already in the UK when I signed up for QFF. Possibly Overseas address—rejected is an indication that there would be extra hoops to jump through if one...

    Madness: Last QF9 A380, First QF10 B787

A question from a friend: Where is the headphone socket located on the QF 787 Y seat? He says he always breaks his plug connector on the A380 inside-left-leg one.

No QFF SCs on BNE-CHC?? (130 status run target)

I happened to be playing with the earning calculator today, and finally it believes that BNE-CHC and CHC-BNE routes exist! I've been checking periodically and this is the first time it's worked, so it was probably fixed sometime in the last couple of weeks. Looks like that cascade finally...

New Qantas Card 2 months early

Yes, the same with mine (also December), although it's a breeze to read compared to the new Silver one that arrived a couple of months earlier. Your name etc will also be printed legibly on the boarding pass, so I can't see this causing problems at any lounges — except you may get tired of...

London dinner Sat March 24 2018

I'm now definitely in for this. A friend who'll be visiting from New Zealand that week will probably come along too. Vegetarian-friendly pretty much rules out Rules, as that's mostly a game restaurant.

    4F so much legroom

It's great, isn't it :) I exercised the same duty for the first time on a recent trans-Tasman flight. Row 4 consisted of me, an empty seat, and a family of four including two young children. I did wonder how envious tall people heading further back might be of the kids — whose feet barely...

Double Status Credits (book by 5/2/18, fly 12/2/18 to 20/1/19)

Interesting — that's new today on the UK home page (and merely third in the slide show). They're pretty sporadic about putting useful splash screens on those overseas home pages, e.g., if they ever said “yay, new London lounge!” on the UK page, it was only many weeks after it opened.
