Just to report back. I ended up closing my account mid-cycle and (after closure) I have just received all points accrued during the cycle.

If we are closing the ANZ FF account, would we still get the points earned during the closure month? Anyone has ever experienced this? I've got my bonus points and looking to close the account, but wondering if I should wait until the next statement before I close the account.

Anyone recently tried making goverment payment indirectly (e.g. via Paypal) using ANZ Rewards card? Any luck getting the reward points?

Not exactly one transaction, but I did spend 2x$900ish charged at the same time (as I was booking two rooms) and I got $240 credited. Hope it helps.

Well this was a very good advice. I called Hilton (just for fun) to ask if I already got the certificate. Surprise surprise! The certificate was already there, even though I didn't receive any email about it. It was apparently issued on the same day when the $12k was hit. So if you are waiting...

I wonder if anyone has received the free weekend night certificate recently? I have already met the $12k spending more than a week ago but still haven't got the certificate. Last year I got the cert pretty much immediately after the 12k posted.

I wonder if anyone has been using this card for ATO tax payment and confirm if such payment earn points? Just want to confirm because I have always used this card for my council rates and earned points even though the T&Cs suggest no points for government-related payments.

The Amex offer is a cash back / statement credit offer. Therefore, it wouldn't have any effect on the reservation rate type at all since Flight Centre wouldn't know anything about it. Will report back if I end up going ahead with the booking.
