    New CommBank "Smart Awards" card

Not surprising they’ve removed platinum and diamond, they are rubbish, would only use if came with a mortgage package etc. New card with international fees waived is good, hopefully might inspire AMEX to do that on their premium cards.

    QR909 Lounge Access in Syd

ANZ lounge sounds good compared to my last QR flight out of Sydney, they offered us the priority lounge once we were kicked out of QF F loungue, I ended up getting a kebab in the food court instead, better experience… 🤣

Article: Most Qantas International Lounges Are Now Open Again

And emirates etc show no signs of opening their lounges yet. I was allowed into the priory lounge, popped my head in then went to the bar, I would have preferred a voucher 🤣

Article: Most Qantas International Lounges Are Now Open Again

I flew out of Sydney mid June on a one world flight, sadly they are still closing the F lounge after the last qantas flight departs, despite the later flights being code share flights. We were all politely kicked out expect for some CL members. Hopefully they will be able to have more late QF...

    What cheeses me off

***In memory of Mrs McGillicuddy I travel a lot developing counties, this is a crowd favourite… A close second is taking every opportunity to loiter in doors or narrow spaces to block everyone. “Civilians” at Sydney airport love doing this at the entry to departures and the arrivals cattle run..

AMEX Platinum Charge - 300,000 Points + $500 off the Annual Fee

Cheers, yeah it looks like the current referrals aren’t much different from their standard offer.

Qantas passengers forced to sleep on floor of DFW

B Before COVID there were some full time qantas employees, just like they had in Joburg etc, I think somone here said they’d seen an advert for DFW?

    Qantas domestic economy meals

Well if you’re thirsty and paid for a “premium” flight… I’m not sure what other more important duties they have, I assume they weren’t employing silver service to distribute the brownies.

Qantas passengers forced to sleep on floor of DFW

They probably decided to get going with a skeleton Qantas presence in DFW, it should be fairly easy to arrange busses and hotels there. Airlines are notorious for overly optimistic repair time frames, financially it’s better off overall to piss of the passengers rather than have them all...

    Qantas domestic economy meals

First time I’ve heard of someone being keen to eat QF Y food 🤣, but you’d think they might have thrown in cheese and crackers if peole wanted them, given it’s almsot 3.5hrs. Did they refuse requests for extra drinks? If I’m flying Y I either eat before take off or bring a sandwich etc, no need...

Looks like an 8 hour delay in Dubai - does Emirates provide hotel rooms?

Not for 8 hours, the EK lounges have decent resting areas if not too crowded. If you want to there is an airport hotel, I wouldn’t think it’s worth it for 8 hours unless you had a bad flight.

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Yeah big difference between living and having a heart beat, I worked in a nursing home years ago and forcing people to stay in the home longer than strictly necessary with no visitors is a kind of torture. Instead of wasting hundreds of billions forcing healthy people with almost no chance of...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

So you think the VIC system was better even though it failed badly, interesting... I was in Sydney quarantine end of June, there were no problems, everything went smoothly and professional guards . I wonder if a heavy police/military presence, a credible reporting chain, and the use of...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I also agree, until Australia agrees on an acceptable sugar pill vaccine there will be quarantine for incoming passengers, hopefully end of the year the govmenet will open up flights, but this will likely rely on Victoria copying the NSW hotel system successfully to manage the volume. Also...

The Qantas Edge in First [ AJ: "Customers drool over our ...{Neil Perry} ... food!" ]

Hmmm I wouldn’t be upset to have Brown Brothers Patricia in J, but if it’s the same Grant Burge as they serve on domestic J I’d questioning my spend. Personally I think Outside of the F lounges Neil Perry generally means cheap ingredients chopped up by the lounge cleaners trying pass as trendy...

Why OH Y? [Y PAX using J lavatories]

Yeah I s yeah I saw this on a recent trip to Christchurch, the curtain must be too inconvenient for the crew. I’ve actually had someone give me a dirty glance because I got up and went to the toilet before they barged past. Maybe a lock system linked to your FF card :)

    Lounge Meets May 2019

EK 413, 5th May, 2110 ex SYD , I will be going to the EK J loungue 1-2 hours before departure. Can host one person. Please note it’s unlikely I will check my inbox on the actual day unless I’ve already confirmed someone would like to come. But if I hear a lounge PA call for my logon name I’ll...

QF domestic 28-day advance purchase Business Class - not worth the pain

I’d say “fad” safety demos are dangerous, I’ve been flying regularly since I was an infant, I’ve been to their training facility to slide down the slide etc, so I don’t watch the videos anymore. However they are so abstract that the correct target audience, fist time/infrequent flyers, are not...
