We'd like your feedback on Australian aviation policy

1/. The airline advocate is a waste of space. Decommission it! 2/. The adoption of consumer rights / protection as per the EU must be the base. Anything less is showing disregard for consumers 3/. The ACCC needs to be given power/s to review both domestic & international airline...

Triple points for hotel bookings - September 2023

    I found similar; selected hotel on Booking.com = A$174, QF = $239!

NAB Greed kills a great product.

If you look at the NAB 'visa' rate, it actually includes a surcharge on the 'visa' rate. Visa offers banks a capacity to add the surcharge into the conversion rate; many take it, but not all do. As far as I can see, NAB 'take' a 3% surcharge. On the information sent to me, cash withdrawals...

NAB Greed kills a great product.

NAB Greed kills off Citibank plus. With the takeover of Citibank accounts, NAB couldn't help themselves. Their Greed to charge for overseas cash withdrawals means the salad days are over. While NAB won't charge the typical 4% on credit transactions, their GREED conversion rates kills any...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

Can not understand why Bonza hasn't hooked in OOL for northwards flights. OOL-ROK, for instance. But, also TSV, MCY, etc. In fact, if they were smart, they'd do what overseas discount operators do, and begin at a south location and do very quick stops at non-capitals along the way; eg. CFS -...

AFF Review: AirAsia X A330 Economy Quiet Zone (AKL-SYD)

Matt, You offer the view that the 9 abreast seats were a 'little squeezy'. True, but! As Gold Coasters, we have often used AirAsiaX on daytime flights (in the quiet zone) and haven't felt compromised (we are small framed). On a recent A350 Singapore flight from BNE to SIN, where no Premium is...

    SQ schedule increases to Australia

I view this as irrelevant. SQ deleted Gold Coast as a Scoot base. I liked that option as the SQ seats on the A350 are soooo uncomfortable. At least the Scoot seats were OK.

If you had a day to spend with AJ to fix QF what would you say ?

Just a simple request from me. Stop darkening the windows on the Dreamliner in daytime. In fact, leave the darkening to the passenger at all times. This simple issue reflects the arrogance of decision-makers that deem they know what is best for their customers.

    New domestic routes

There appears one in the am for B737, the remainder (several) are all B717 's.

    New domestic routes

I note the QANTAS-Link Sydney - Byron flights will be operated by Eastern (a subsidiary of QANTAS). But, not all regional routes operated by QANTAS-Link are operated by QANTAS or subsidiaries. SYD-OOL, for example, is contracted out to Cobham Aviation.

    International Driving Permits/Licences

Like many here, I also have travelled extensively and hired a car in Europe, Asia and America's. Except for Japan, 1st time need for an IDP was in Greece earlier this year. Like others have indicated, had to buy online. In the discussion with the principal of the hire car company (in Greece)...

    Window shades

Ian, Seems you have little appreciation for the planet on which you exist. While I agree that looking up and seeing 'blue sky' isn't rewarding, watching tropical weather events can be enlightening (even, at times, terrifying). But the joy of looking out is downwards. There, over land, one...

    Window shades

And, the reverse is true. Those seeking a dark plane to watch movies IMPOSES on those seeking to view the scenery. Not a fan of AMERICAN cough movies (as offered on airlines), and find rear seat screens very draining.

    Window shades

I'm also a shades up flyer. Love to see where I'm going. For that reason, I try not to fly Dreamliner. I've read several reasons offered for 'forced' shade closure, but I'd like to learn the 'official' reason from a responsible airline exec.

What type of shop/store would you like to see at the airport that isn't usually there now

Agree, wholeheartedly. Perhaps the reason there are so many similar branded stores across the globe is that these stores use airports as another form of advertising. There's likely no way each outlet can make a profit after paying exorbitant rent, and with so few customers/sales. Thus, only...

    AirAsia - Missing Refund

Renato1 I suggest AAX are going through some difficulties. As others have said, every airline can (and many do) cancel a flight where insufficient pax. I flew (my last) AAX a fortnight ago from KUL - OOL. I'd previously booked the day before but AAX cancelled and I had to take the next...

    AirAsia - Missing Refund

Same for me as well. In the end, I sought recompense from my credit card provider. Interestingly, my credit card provider 'withdrew' amount from AAX whereupon AAX sought to contest by providing details on ANOTHER AAX cancellation (SYD-KUL). AAX has cancelled 4 of my flights over the past 6...

    Travel Insurance for Over 70's

A subject that doesn't get much airing is Travel Insurance for those over 70. Many firms don't offer (being limited to up to 70), some only offer single excursions, and a few do offer full year coverage (which is what I usually buy). I don't know of any site that lists travel insurer's that...

    Not impressed with BankWest

    - - - I suggest Bankwest are doing what every other bank does. I have used Latitude Financial's (fee & OS charge fee free - 28 Degrees) card for many years while OS. Oft times I have had to contest transactions. ALWAYS have been instructed to pay in full and await resolution. Invariably...
