I think you misunderstood. The new Australian-based airline would fly to Bangkok, and coordinate schedules and ticketing with EVA Air for their flights from their Bangkok focus city to Europe (specifically the nonstop services to LHR, VIE and AMS).

Agreed. I have noticed that for UA flights, the reward availability for Velocity seems to match the reward availability on Aeroplan, so searching Velocity to get an indication of Aeroplan availability for UA may still work even if AC cut seats.aero out.
