Update: On the day, QF9 was late arriving from LHR. We were advised of the delay even before we left the house. EK107 DXB-LCA-ATH was replaced with QR1023 DXB-DOH and QR211 DOH-ATH. The family was upgraded to J the day before, so the delay meant use of the MEL business lounge. We wouldn't...

I requested for our upgrade 3 days before the flight. There's 4 of us, all bronze status and on rewards flight. I looked at our chances as nil, and yet I tried my luck. Glad I did!

I'm still learning to understand these codes. For qf9, there are still spaces in both business and premium economy cabins. If so, I can apply for upgrade? For 4? Bronze status? From economy classic reward? ba11 is showing spaces too, but i can't request upgrade if ticketed by qantas, i think.
