Trains of Japan - A Review Thread

This is fantastic. Fond memories of the Hokuriku, and the Thunderbird from Kanazawa to Osaka. Next time I would dearly love to get on the Nozomi. And don't forget the cuisine!

I'll explane my North American Trip

Most of us like to pretend Dr Pulaski never happened to be fair. All these great WW2 era fighters and not a Vought Corsair in sight. Bugger.

    Christmas on steroi_s 🧑‍🎄🎅🎄🦌🛷

Wowee. I'm sorry your trip has been so compromised Pushka, but good to see your're making the most of it. I imagine it's extremely frustrating to be so hamstrung and subject to the whims and policies of difficult tour operators. I'm not sure I could handle it. Oddly enough between your TR and...

So, what music are you listening to now?

Really wish I'd discovered Chris Cain years ago. Not sure when or if he'll be coming back to Australia in the future. Superb bluesman.

    Return to Europe (in style)

I'm only part way through your excellent report, and I am sure someone else has mentioned it already. But I have a 1000 piece jigsaw which represents almost this EXACT image.

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

An update: The dishwasher continues to work brilliantly, even though Mr4 is constantly pressing all its buttons and opening the door. Sadly, our oven stopped working right after the dishwasher went in. Not to suggest one had anything to do with the other, just to say the timing could have been...

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Just as easy to replace the whole tap once you start. So I'll do that st some point.

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

I do have a replacement tap, so it's on my list. The leak however has stopped. I just closed the tap slightly and there's been no further sign of a drip since. Perhaps it needed a little time to sort out. I will keep an eye on it though. The dishwasher itself though works a treat. Very pleased.

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Realised I could save myself some money and install the dishwasher myself. All the hoses and fittings were in place after all. Just cost me $40 for a fridge trolley, plus 30 minutes of labour. A tiny tiny leak from the under sink tap seems to be the only issue. Not the hose connection but the...

Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

We may have had a small win here. Picked up a used Siemens iQ500 from a couple streets away for free. They'd just bought a newer model. Was on FB for $50 but noone bit, so they just gave it away. Will need to get it installed still, but looks like it's in excellent condition. We'll see.

Not as glamorous as some places, but it's nice enough. Dwellingup. Maiden voyage for Daphne, our recently acquired camper trailer.

Thank you for the info. I look forward to more, but please finish your TR first. We're all enjoying it.

    Christmas in Bangkok.

Oh well thank you in advance. I didn't want to derail or prompt any spoilers in your report. Also I hope you and @mrs.dr.ron are having more luck in you trip. Just wondering how you would rate BKK as a Christmas destination. Which may sound like a dumb question given you obviously decided to go...

3 Weeks in Japan - The Post COVID Version!

Will endorse many of the comments above and say thanks for a very interesting and detailed trip report. Not sure rural Japan is entirely my cup of tea, but you made it look rather nice. Would love to try the sleeper train though. Can't imagine my wife would agree, and the kids would make it a...
