Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

I'll be visiting next week. Maybe a first time visit to the roped off area despite flying F and P1 a number of times over the last year or so... maybe a subtle hint at the desk that I just head to the P1 area... 🤣

Oneworld showing VA instead of QF on website

QR codeshares with VA, not Qantas. It’s a partnership between those airlines. If you look for a flight between DOH-CBR you’ll end up likely on QR which codeshares with VA. It’s that simple. There is no partnership or codeshare with QF. OW is an alliance, not a codeshare or partnership...

Oneworld showing VA instead of QF on website

I think you’ll find it’s the fact that QF don’t have a DOH-Australia flight (even codeshare unless with BA via LHR or something) hence not offering a seamless OW-metal trip. QR obviously do offer the direct flight from DOH and they have codeshare flights loaded into system that utilise VA. Not...

    Ambassador Query

I'm hoping it changes to Ambassador prior to arrival (after booking). I have 2 stays at IHG coming up and I am currently Silver but managed to score a great free weekend night deal in New York and I'm yet to buy Ambassador... booked it last year but why waste six months of it before I was due to...

    LAX Lounge Options Flying AA

We have a 7 hour layover coming up at LAX and we are heading out of the airport for an afternoon drink and bite at Venice beach (even with lounge access, I don't think I could handle staying at LAX for that long). Personally, I don't think paying for access at an Admirals Club is worth it...

Oneworld showing VA instead of QF on website

QR avoiding giving revenue to QF... who would have thought after QF fought so hard (and won) to not allow additional QR flights to Australia! 😅

AA to fly BNE to DFW [confirmed]

That is a good deal. I've paid ~$1,700pp in Y QF/AA separate tickets BNE-SYD-LAX-MIA-LGAxJFK-LAX-BNE for travel in April (booked around Sep/Oct last year).

    VISA Waiver Program to USA

Thanks. I suspect on arrival CBP will note we only have 18 days left of that visa waiver left. Don’t want to go through the hassle and pay for 3x more ESTAs when it’s likely USA as a destination for the family won’t be as regular after this trip… unless there is a risk we’ll be denied check...

    VISA Waiver Program to USA

Hi all. Back to the USA with family in tow this time. We all still have a valid ESTA until 2 days after we depart back to Australia. No issues with this? No need to have a length of time remaining on visa waiver to enter USA? We are in the USA for 16 days.

AA to fly BNE to DFW [confirmed]

The good: timing into DFW for onward East Coast connections (compared to QF's abysmally timed QF15; USCBP at DFW rather than LAX; AA hard product (compared to QF); return leg, DFW as an airport and AA FF lounge are excellent compared to LAX. Also a half-decent option to some European...

QF Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

I had to go back and check this because I was under the assumption that it was the requesting member's priority. I have previously requested for 'family members' and they had their upgrade confirmed ~7 days prior to the international flight... then again, I am a P1! From the Qantas Classic...

Transiting through LAX On Separate Tickets

Hi ads. How did this work out time-wise? We have BNE-SYD-LAX-MIA in one hit coming up (ugh, it's going to be a long 48 hours) and whilst not an international connection, we have BNE-SYD-LAX with QF and LAX-MIA on a separate AA ticket. We are on the re-timed QF11 which gets in to LAX at 1300...

    2023 - Year In Review

As a P1 booked in O fare whY doing SYD-LAX this year on a QF A380 on a Wednesday, this gives me hope if they are handing out op-ups at the gate! I'll take Y+ even! 🤣 Even with most of travel last year domestically booked in QF Y, I was op-up'd to J quite a few times from around Aug-Dec.

Recommended time allowance: FRA airport arrival to IC train departure

In June 2023, (whilst not Schengen), it took about 15mins total from off the aircraft (LHR-MUC on BA) to down the escalator to the MUC station with HLO. That was with a 5min wait at immigration. Train to Munich hbf waiting and was at my hotel in no time. Best way to centre of the city in my opinion.

    2023 - Year In Review

My 2023 was down on 2022 but not by much. 75 flights, 114,796kms (71,331miles) 3 international trips (1xUS/Europe, 2xNZ) the rest mainly on the golden triangle. Route most take: BNE-SYD 4 new airports (WLG, AKL, MUC, DFW) 4 new aircraft (AA B77W, AA B788, BA A320, NZ A320) 3 new classes (AA F...

Best Accor Hotel in Sydney CBD?

Correct. I've always booked cheapest room at Morris and upgraded to one of the top two, both of which have a table and chairs. I think Morris King and above have a table that is fine to work from. Also, the lobby/bar/restaurant is great to work at. They have power points/USBs hidden along the...

Best Accor Hotel in Sydney CBD?

Best Overall Hotel - Sofitel Darling Harbour (make sure status/booking includes the Club) Best Budget Hotel (i.e. routinely under $300/night) - Sofitel Wentworth for northern/Circular Quay end of the city (although with reno they may jack up the prices) and Hotel Morris for southern/close to...

Terrible experience you had (and I hope they have made up for it)… but brutally honest you didn’t miss much with a walk around Mannheim. Except for maybe the Baroque Mannheim Schloss (Mannheim University), there isn’t much. I went to the Business School there as part of my MBA and whilst a great...

    Grange in the F lounge

Plenty of reports of P1 shown to the roped off area when heading to the Flounge (see P1 thread). My most recent F flights ex-SYD have been QF11... a morning flight. Haven't bothered with it previously as the lounge hasn't been too crowded and managed to get window-side tables anyway.
