Qantas flight from Auckland to Sydney makes mayday call

From The Age: I'm guessing an hour out of Sydney they would have been out of VHF range and made the call over HF

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

No issues with access to United Club at LAX. Boarding pass scanned green at the desk and the staff seemed very familiar with the VA partnership. They even let me in no issues even tho my connecting flight to PHX doesn't depart for another 4.5 hours

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Not sure. But given there is a SQ flight to SIN that departs at 1125, closing the lounge at 1000 seems a bit premature. Probably cheaper to make pax for that one flight use the NZ lounge than keep the SQ one open

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

I’m at MEL about to depart on UA99 to LAX. Checked in at kiosk, boarding passes printed with Premier Access and no issues with access to SQ lounge, except that they advertise the lounge closes at 1035 but they actually closed it at 1000 and booted everyone out. UA99 doesn’t depart until 1130...

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Good to hear that lounge access wasn’t an issue for the connecting flight. If you are heading back the same way, would be good to hear if you get domestic access for the leg before the International

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Am flying MEL>LAX>PHX and return in Dec. The VA page on the UA partnership seems to suggest I would get UA lounge access on the domestic legs as they are same day and on the same ticket as the international leg, but the UA page seems to contradict this. Has anyone had any recent experience? I...

Points Top Up Not Applied - Anyone had this before?

No, same as web. Points balance doesn't include the top up, but can see it in the recent activity list

Points Top Up Not Applied - Anyone had this before?

I was a few points short for putting in an upgrade request on an upcoming flight for my parents, so decided to purchase a block of points to get enough. I need to request ASAP as their flight is in less than a week. The transaction went through OK, and I can see the points update in my Activity...

    UpgradeMe pricing and success

I too got an upgrade SYD-MEL on Sat morning on a $70 bid. Quite surprised given how busy the airport/flight was with school holidays. I was a bit hungover from the night before, so the extra space to rest and some tasty pancakes was well worth it.

    IATA Covid-19 digital travel pass

Have flights booked to NZ on NZ in March (am citizen). Travel Pass App says "Your COVID-19 health certificates do not meet the requirements for your journey. Please contact Air New Zealand to discuss alternative arrangements" Hmmmm

    Smart Things and Home Automation

It's OK. I've had it for years, before the Nest stuff was easy to get here (or maybe the doorbell wasn't even out). I looked at Nest more recently as I have a Nest Hub, and the Ring won't stream video to it, but I don't have power to the front door so needed a battery option anyway. I think...

    Smart Things and Home Automation

I've got a LOT of stuff set up in Home Assistant. Some of the things that were useful when I was travelling (which is essentially never now as in the last 2.5 years I have gone from 0 to 2 kids and a pandemic) was to have timer and security routines to give the appearance of someone being home...

Order a Qantas "care pack" for $25

Damn - just saw this now and have well and truly missed out. Wish they have made it a limit of 1 or 2, not 10!

Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Anyone know if they are going to mail us physical cards? I got an image of one when I was matched, but I believe some lounges insist on a physical card for entry.

Just got a welcome to Gold email. Interesting we all seem to have got them simultaneously

I did that already. Sent them a PDF that looks just like your example - they didn't accept it

Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Got a similar email to many others here. I had already sent a photo of my card (valid until 31 July, but I'd already re-qualified for Gold) and PDF copies of both the last two 'statement' emails from Velocity, plus a full page save of my activity page on the VA website. Have now emailed the...

Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Anyone else finding the links in the email about this are sending you to the homepage of the Qatar Maldives site? I had to copy the URL in the email manually and paste to get it to work.
