    Lima (LIM) Stopover Tips

Just an update on lounges at LIM. New LATAM/OW lounge called Sumaq. It is third party operated, but LATAM have access. Very large, adequate food, even at almost midnight when we visited. The previous Sumaq lounge is right next door. Overall it's ok. lots of charging points, TV's, business...

    Santiago (SCL) Stopover Tips

From my experience @juddles it's worth it to ask. But be very careful. Chile, might be ok, but in Peru I had the extraordinary experience of one very high end hotel in Urubamba asking I pay for the room in $USD and the extras in $PEN. When I questioned why I can't have the account in one of...

    Running spikes in hand luggage?

I can confirm , my nephew who was a very good U-18 100m/200m sprinter was advised by the State Athletics Association (VIC in this case) if travelling with spikes in hand luggage, remove the spikes. If you have fixed spikes, place in checked. Was for a nationals championship, travelling from MEL...

    Sick of flying :(

Yes @drron ... but in my humble opinion. The one thing Peru has gotten right, is long distance buses! They are equivalent to a Y+ for total service, but seating can be close to J. But still, this will take 2 trips, one of 6 hours, a 3 hour break, then one of 9 hours...(help me:()

    Sick of flying :(

I feel your pain @juddles , as a regular flyer of the same route, it's not fun after a time. Although circumstances have curtailed my flying for the next few months. Currently sitting here in downtown TPP after a minor car accident resulted in a broken ankle... , tests results last week...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Yep, buy your $AUD now. US fed will probably go another rate rise first week of December. Aussie Reserve Bank will do the usual hold until early next year. When it could go down? But right now, next 2 to 3 weeks, it's about as high as it will be for a while. Anything above 72 is good , 72.5+ is...

    Lima (LIM) Stopover Tips

Great post @ozguytim . Museo Larco and Museo MATE, I would second both those. The Testino exhibit which is semi-permanent, is fantastic at MATE. Highly recommend also.. For art lovers MALI, (Museum of Art Lima) MALI - Museo de Arte de Lima Has some brilliant exhibits, ever changing. As a plus...

Are free upgrades a thing of the past?

The short answer, is pretty much that it doesn't exist anymore. For a multitude of reasons. One of the most prominent being the high number of "elite" frequent flyers, I feel. But of course the business case model of most airlines, as alluded to by the check in agent, is probably the highest...

    Around the world in NZ/LH/LX/SA J (and LA/UX/BA/TP/U2/KL Y) - including Chornobyl

Great TR Sludge, at times I've almost forgotten to check in, but some remarkable places :) Oh! and the picking up the wrong bag thing....I've done it, so you're not alone. But, I only got to the car park, not half way home... In fairness, I've never seen that bag before or since...Anywhere...
