Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's? Does the "call up" cheap xASA method" work for JQ flights, and do they give Status Credits and points, i.e. does it go into the Max bundle fare, or not? Sorry about the newbie question but I have never tried redeeming...

    Questions re BA16

Regarding BA F PJs there should be S, M and L. S sometimes disappears, however.

    BA special offer upgrade

They're squashing the middle seat again. However, apparently there are some aircraft being delivered on which the seats are not squash-able.

    BA special offer upgrade

I don't recommend you take up the offer, unless you are desperate for SCs. What Dave Noble said about the seating is not quite the whole story - seats are put as 2+3 but the middle seat is not occupied in CE. So you will have some space between your seat neighbour. You also get a little wider...

    Anytime QF Platinum Lounge Access

I haven't actually used the Anytime Access facility, but I often test the 'anytime' access facility by only showing my WP card (even though I do have my boarding pass). I've never been asked to show my boarding card or had any issues, and they've always pointed me to the J lounge since they opened.

How many points for pre-purchased excess baggage?

I'd suggest flying on BA-operated aircraft instead. Their excess baggage charges are far, far lower than that of QF for SYD-LHR - £72 from memory, if paid in advance. Also for connecting flight from LHR to EDI, make sure you are able to pay at BA's excess baggage rate, not QF's.

    Using iPhone when overseas.

Also, the phone can wonder off the 3 network unless you set it to 3 UK manually. If it does wonder off and latch onto Vodafone UK for instance, data roaming will be expensive.

Please, no food or drink while using the desktops in the Qantas Lounge

In fact, they come round to the computers to take food orders there.

Why is holidaying in Australia so expensive?

Indeed. Not only did I feel I didn't want to go back, I decided not to go back.

    World’s most efficient/inefficient baggage handlers?

In my experience, Best: NRT Worst: Most Australian airports + LHR (any terminal)

    Qantas meals

BA does offer hot meals on intra-Europe flights in Y at lunch and dinner time, but ONLY on longer flights (I think flights over 3 hours), such as ATH, LCA, IST etc. I think they might also be offering hot breakfast on shorter intra-Europe flights but I am not sure.

Can't select seats online despite status

When I tried to select my seat online on domestic flights recently, it didn't work - it came back with an error every time. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but it definitely didn't work.

    UK VAT cash refund

You can get the form processed by the VAT refund people (which often are Travelex people) and then put them back in checked baggage and then check them in. You are required to be able to show your goods to those VAT people at that point so don't pack them right at the bottom of your suitcase...

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

I see. I guess I wouldn't be able to tell which IC gives PC Plats what, because I'm a Plat Amb (so I don't know what got me the benefit). Ambassador is cheap, especially at the current AUD/USD exchange rate. I've had far more benefits from Amb than what I paid for it. BOGO certificate is pretty...

For some reason, I thought PC Plat was not recognised at IC. Have I got it wrong?

QF - Gold for life, ninth year of Platinum but think I should get out

Assuming it's still the same as the last time I looked, BA will not have you as a new member if you are in Australia.

Not happy at QANTAS So called customer service

I can sympathise with that. The trouble in Annstan's case is that by complaining to Qantas as if security issues were their fault, I believe it detracts from the main that she has with QF (change fee issues). Complaints about security do need to be made, but to BAA perhaps, rather than QF. I...

    ACA: Help Yourself Hotels

One hotel in Japan did not have a lift security device that required a key, but each floor was divided into sections and you had to use your room key to open the door to that section. I thought this was pretty good.

FA Unilaterally Downgrading PAX from J to Y on Trans Tasman (Jetconnect)

To me, one unusual aspect of this case is that it cannot be considered 'operational reasons' by most people's standard. So any discussions of the norm relating to involuntary downgrade due to operational reasons is not applicable, to my mind.
