BA returning to BKK and KUL

My best op-up luck was on BA in BKK. Started with an economy ticket and at checkin given an economy boarding pass. Then, at the lounge, I was given a new boarding pass for premium economy. Finally, at the gate, I was given a Club World boarding pass.

    Qantas Brisbane Domestic Business Lounge

I noticed on recent visits that there has been no dragon standing at the J lounge entrance podium, even in the morning. More than a few were taking a chance to come in as the other desk further along was busy and not watching the entrance..

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

I had wondered the same. Obviously this explains the situation.

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

They say they are inspecting Max 9 aircraft and putting them back into service after inspection, but do they really know what they are looking for? Until they find the plug and the reasons for its failure, they really won't be sure what to look for.

That video of the lights outside the plane through a missing door is so surreal.

    VA Cancellations, Delays growing?

Depending on rate codes, usually if you rent for three or four days there is no one way fee and it is still cheaper than the one way fee.

    LHR-PER-SYD with a 737 for the connecting PER-SYD

4 hours flight when jetlagged is very different to a 4 hours single flight.

    LHR-PER-SYD with a 737 for the connecting PER-SYD

Nothing worse than being dumped onto a 737 for a transcon after an 18 hour flight from London to Perth.

    UpgradeMe pricing and success

A friend was showing me some bizzare upgrade process. She bid the minimum +$10 (so I think $320) for MEL to PER. Later she received an email that she had been outbid and suggesting she should bid $900. Yet the day before her flight she received a text from her credit card provider that a...

    VA Cancellations, Delays growing?

I was at OOL on Friday and there were two cancellations from/to MEL. Thankfully I was on 347 to MEL which did get away. There was a large queue at the lounge with people trying to get on to 347. Unfortunately we had three fail to board our flight and went out with those seats empty - I...

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I finally ticked over to LTG today. I came to QFF as an AN refugee and quickly purchased LTQC (which was very handy, especially when I was living in the US), which I think I got more than my moneys worth. It’s been uphill and down dale with different career moves over the years. Now I enter...

    General Medical issues thread

Unfortunately due to the requirements of nursing homes now, some excellent small homes are closing their doors. Care is more than form filling and paper pushing.

I'm in the QF Lounge thread

For your sake, I hope not. It was like the hunger games in there - for a seat and for food.

I'm in the QF Lounge thread

I would say that I’m in the OOL lounge but it only opens one hour before QF departures, giving only 40 minutes before boarding. Given the crowd already at the door, I’d say 10 minutes of actual relaxation before boarding.

SkyBus gone up again [Now $23.90 one way]

I was surprised that the Melbourne Airport rail was given the go ahead in spite of other cuts (such as Sunshine Coast rail link). But perhaps the Minister is showing her state loyalty in the decision making.

Retired credit card options - approval rate/banks

This is all eye opening reading as I'm planning to retire in 3 to 5 years time with substantial investments and super account. The fact that you can get knocked back is a shock. I certainly won't be cancelling cards any time soon.

Qantas Frequent Flyer changes coming in early 2024

Good points, but I will miss the first lounges and first check in. My flying, however, is much less for work with a new position late last year. Part of me likes the idea of going for gold in one of the other alliances.
