    AFF Gathering #13 in SYD on 18 - 20 October 2019

Is it possible to just join the event at HARS? Myself and proskyneo live in Wollongong and would make our own way there.

Chasing the Q Suite on LHR-DOH flights

That's the worst thing about row 1! No engine views! I'm sure I couldn't seen the engine at all on a CX 77W from 1A. #firstclassproblems

Chasing the Q Suite on LHR-DOH flights

Yep, 10A. Offered a great view of the GE90 too. :)

Chasing the Q Suite on LHR-DOH flights

Thankfully I managed to get a Q Suite equipped 777 on my flight and it was fantastic. Great service and a wonderful seat.

Chasing the Q Suite on LHR-DOH flights

Thanks for the replies! I completely forgot about Expert flyer (I have a free account but that should still be fine). And yeh QR are terrible with swapping aircraft. I recall flying via DOH 2 years ago to try out the A350 and 1 month before the flight it changed to a 787. After finally...

Chasing the Q Suite on LHR-DOH flights

Hi everyone, I'm looking at flying LHR-DOH on QR6 in mid Sept and am keen to try the Q Suite. Is there a way of telling if it's the Q Suite? They mention the seatwidth is 21.8inches and pitch is 78 inches on the website and I believe that's the old 2-2-2 layout? But I was under the impression...

    Qantas 787 reviews J - Y+ and Y

I flew in 1A on the return flight and it was great. Quieter than 10K and I was served quicker. It's also more private as the middle seats are set further back and can't see you. My only criticism of 1A is that it's too far ahead of the wing to get a good view of the engine.

    QF A380 J quick rundown

I standard corrected. Thankfully my last 4 QF J flights were in A330s and and 787s. :)

    QF A380 J quick rundown

There's only one 747 with the droopy skybed mk1s so your chances of getting that are low. Unless the skybed mk2s are now drooping? I personally have no problem (I'm 185cm and 70kgs) stepping over the aisle seat when it's flat. I usually hold onto the hard shell of the seat in front (the pax in...

A very BA experience - BA B787-9 First Class, LHR to AUH

It is impressive how cough they are. Since Oct last year I've flown LHR-FCO-LHR (return was in club europe) and LHR-ATH-LHR and been thoroughly unimpressed. Barely a greeting when you enter and the food they charge you for is terrible! I think I paid $20 for a toastie and small bottle of wine...

JAL business class Melbourne - Tokyo. Is it worth it?

You'll be wrecked and never be able to fly Y again, but who cares! JAL J is fantastic!

JL awards now bookable on Qantas website

Yep you can certainly fly JAL from Australia to North America. I just used the multi-city tool for SYD-NRT and NRT-JFK and I managed to snag Business x-SYD and First x-NRT! Not the most efficient use of points although I'm very excited to try out JAL F! There looks like there's a lot of Y and...

How to best maximise my CX (first ever) First class flight to London.

I'll be sure to make a video of the flight which should be online mid May. :)

How to best maximise my CX (first ever) First class flight to London.

I just double checked my booking and I'd actually selected 1A (purely for the prestige of that number... haha). Why do you believe that 2A is superior? Many thanks

How to best maximise my CX (first ever) First class flight to London.

Thanks for the replies. Yep, I've got 2A booked and it was available from when I booked the award via QF mid last year. From what I can see, the A side has the aisle to itself (similar to QF F). I suppose it will be in the sun the entire flight which is a pity as there's something magical about...

How to best maximise my CX (first ever) First class flight to London.

Hi everyone, I'm flying CX F for the first time in May and I'm keen to hear your tips on how to maximise the experience. I only do limited overseas flights per year and flying in J and F is still a massive novelty for me and I'm really keen to enjoy the entire 13hr flight. I leave HKG at 14:40...

    Which aircraft for J, 380 787 or 747

You can lower the central divider in the 789 (unlike the A330 which has a fixed divider) which makes it a little more conducive with talking to your neighbour, but otherwise I'd agree that you can see more of your neighbour in the skybeds.

    Which aircraft for J, 380 787 or 747

I should have said that I was in seat 1A and 10K so I had the wider foot recesses (this was intentional) too.

    Which aircraft for J, 380 787 or 747

I've now flown trans-pacific twice in QF 789s in J (as well as 744s and A380s) and here's my summary of why you'd select the following: A380: chance of an F upgrade, quieter and smoother than 789 and 744, you're significantly overweight and would find the 789 suite too restrictive, more humid...

    Qantas 787 reviews J - Y+ and Y

1A definitely has an overhead locker. It's just the middle two seats that lack them (first two rows I think). According to the CSM I spoke too (who I might add, also called it a 787-900...), the Y+ ottomans are only there until they get approval to use a better integrated leg rest which hadn't...
