Article: Great Value Round-the-World Tickets with Finnair & Lufthansa

You need to use a Travel Agent. I used Round About Travel and Lee was great at helping me with the flights and last-minute changes. roundabouttravel.com.au

Article: Great Value Round-the-World Tickets with Finnair & Lufthansa

Just completed one of these in J last week (BNE-SIN-HEL-JFK ... my own internal ... DFW-SYD-BNE). My last one was around 10 years ago. The AY A350s and the new seats make this a really enjoyable trip.

Tips for moving from QFF to BAEC (QF WP + LTG)...

I'm about to try this for the first time. How long after you land should you wait before converting the number back to QF for the return journey? I'm sitting on 21,000 SC and spent the last 10 years hoping that QF would introduce LTP. You would think that double LTG would be a reasonable goal...

A very long run comes to an end...

I think this is why we are all so annoyed. My preference would be to stick with QF for life. They have been good to me in the past too. What most people here are saying is that the lack of LifeTimePlatinum is a glaring omission that could keep their highest revenue clients engaged. I think...

A very long run comes to an end...

Been LTG for a few years and also finally got bumped back from WP this year. Really annoyed as I had the 1200 credits but one of the flights was on QF metal but booked as AA (rookie mistake!!!) so did not make the 4 QF flights. This year I've done 90 SCs - been saving cash and using all those...

Stay with QFF or Switch to AA??

Thanks everyone - I really appreciate the input. Do you think it is worth signing up to a Platinum Challenge? I have Europe, Aus and a couple domestic US trips to make in the next 3 months. Most will be in J, so not sure there is any benefit in the challenge.

Stay with QFF or Switch to AA??

Perfect - thanks for that. That solves the one thing that was stopping me. It does seem a bit silly to build status in another OW carrier, but being in the AA hub makes it seem like an obvious choice.

Stay with QFF or Switch to AA??

Can you access a lounge with the QFF card even though you are booked on a flight with an AA Frequent Flyer number?

Stay with QFF or Switch to AA??

Hi All, I've been QFF Platinum for seven years and also QFF life-time gold. I've just been demoted to gold because I was 280 status credits short this year for renewal (I only had 920 credits and the required 4 flights on QF metal). This year was a lower travel year for me. You would think...

Path to get from QF Plat to AA ExPlat????

Hi All, I've been QF WP for past 4 years and now living in USA. I am keen to swap over to AA ExPlat but can see no status match from QF to AA. I've thought about matching to UA but have no intention to fly with them so not sure that would work. My flying this year will mean that i will...

    United V Qantas

Hi All, Have not posted in quite some time. Normally a happy flyer but I found these experiences bad enough to write about them. Last week I had to make a dash across to the US for business as we are opening an office there, and due to the unions decided to book on United. (Dont even get me...

    RTW Ticket and GST

Oh cough! Thanks guys, I have some adjustments to put though. Surprised the accountants did not pick that up. Very MadMat

    RTW Ticket and GST

Thanks guys, I think you have confirmed what I was thinking. I'm not talking about departure "taxes" etc, but the GST component on the purchase of a RTW ticket. When I buy a RTW from Qantas, I get back the GST as an input credit so in essence it is nearly 10% cheaper for me in real...

    RTW Ticket and GST

Hi All, For those who get the GST back on a DONEx, if you book the first segment out of NZ on AA flight, does that mean that the whole fare is ticketed by AA? and if so I assume that there is no GST input credit available. It seems to me that as I can get the GST credit, I am better off...

    BA Arrivals Lounge in LHR

I took the Heathrow Express Train to T123 and then to T5 - Free transfer between terminals. Qantas staff on the plane new nothing about using the BA arrivals lounge. Matt

    BA Arrivals Lounge in LHR

Sorry to open up an old thread but I'm in the T5 arrivals lounge now (QF Plat travelling QF F). I can access everything but the massage (have a knot in my shoulder too). I think next time I'll just fly in on BA whenever I have a choice. Normally I do DONEX so should always be able to arrange...

RTW in J for $3,000 Less

Ah must look at that - Any idea on the typical costs for Done4?

RTW in J for $3,000 Less

Hi all, I've done two of these now but with the way the $ has been going I just took an award fare back from NRT and intend to wait before going again. Just curious if anyone has done a DONE4 from NRT lately and if so how much did it cost you in AUD$? With a 30% drop in our dollar...

RTW in J for $3,000 Less

What is the Canada option? Having called Tokyo 3 times I have had one that should not have been on the English desk and with the others I would not want to do anything complex through them. Can someone please explain when you would use Canada and if you did would you still build the itinerary...

RTW in J for $3,000 Less

It turned out that they did not get the Authorisation from AMEX. All ok now. Anyreason why I can't edit my original post to complete it? I guess it is complete enough anyway. Thanks again for all the contibutors. Matt.
