    Ola Referrals

I was using OLA quite a bit however my recent experiences with them have been appalling. In Melbourne at least , it seems the overwhelming majority of drivers are connected to Uber and Ola. As soon as it gets busy, the drivers opt for Uber jobs as they benefit from the surge pricing. The last...

Best way to store opened wine

I agree. If you don’t want to use argon - like winesave, and Coravin - then do what you said. NO pump, no nitrogen coughtail etc. Storage Temperature is THE single most critical factor.

Best way to store opened wine

“Scalp” is a term used when a wine has been affected / tainted by something that it has come in contact with which has resulted in the flavours and/or the aromas, becoming removed/compressed/compacted. It is often noted with wine’s that are TCA affected, where the wine is not obviously...

Best way to store opened wine

That is PRECISELY the correct advice. Personally, I would NEVER use the pump as it is much more likely to “ scalp “ the wine than protect it. All you need to do is a quick spritz/sparge w winesave and then store the bottle upright in a cool place. DO NOT lie the bottle down as you increase the...

Best way to store opened wine

affects the wines “open” life as there is a direct expo exponential correlation Post opening , there will be some diminution of the volatile esters, same as with other high alcohol wines / spirits. The Charentais have a good trick w Cognac which is the adding of glass marbles to the bottle...

Anyone used the Coravin Model 3?

If you only need the wine to stay in good condition for say 10-14 days, then the most efficacious solution is to buy a can of winesave, sparge the bottle, and keep it upright in a cool - fridge, wine fridge, cellar etc - place. In general, wine preservation is a VERY complex subject as the...

Credit Card companies reducing annual fees due to Covid-19 ?

Afternoon all. Just paid annual fee last month for my amex plat charge card and with all the travel restrictions in place, can't see how I'll get anything like the usual value out of it. I'm thinking of ringing and asking for a partial $$$ credit to my account. Anybody have any knowledge of...

First time in J - Book the cook options and alcohol

We flew J class SQ out of Adelaide just before xmas and the lobster was available via Book the Cook. BTW, the SQ J class product - f & b plus hard and other soft services - was infinitely superior to that of the TG equivalent, which we tried on way home from HKT via BKK.

Anybody savvy about current Costco wine deals and / or selection ?

Indeed, the MW sale has some good gear - both Frog and Oz - at what are attractive prices by global standards. Lots of Ravenau Chablis , Rousseau, 1st growth Bordeaux, Italian. Oz with Bass Phillip, Moss Wood, Cullen etc so I'm watching the action keenly.

Anybody savvy about current Costco wine deals and / or selection ?

Thanks to all for responding. When I mentioned Ch Mouton in an earlier post. I was referring to Ch Mouton Rothschild, 2eme cru in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification and elevated to Premier Cru Classe status in 1973, joining the other four Premier Cru Classe of Lafite, Latour, Margaux and...

Is it worth paying for "VIP" customs and immigration clearance at HKT ?

many thanks. I read through and it does seem there is no “official “ fast track, only a pay for service option of Coral - or others who offer this service.

Anybody savvy about current Costco wine deals and / or selection ?

That’s because ?? i know when Costco first came into Australia, the Melb store had some pretty sexy stuff - Ch Mouton etc - at really good prices , but my trip to Moorabbin was very humdrum.
