Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

A cracking night in… I had a glass of the Stargazer on release at Chiswick and the acid has certainly softened since then. It’s evolved into a beautiful well balanced chardonnay. The Pinot in the Phase III Dero certainly shows. Delicious.

We are currently in Fernie BC, Canada “enjoying” -33 temps! Some bottles from our sojourn… All these are BC wines mostly from the Okanagan Valley. The ice wine was beautiful and the others were ok with the Frind “The Premier” being somewhat of a standout. Prices are reasonable other than for...

    Qantas fleet rebuild piece

The A220s are a replacement for the QantasLink 717s, not for the 737s or A330s, albeit they have ordered 29 to replace 20 717s. Qantas has ordered A350s and 787s to replace the A330s but they only start to arrive in FY27 and they have ordered 12 of each. They have also ordered 20 A321 XLRs...

It is nice. The wines usually sell out within a few weeks of release.

There seems to be a lot of detail on the Sami Odi cork. Have you tried to decipher it?

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes.

I had the same issue trying to credit a BA LHR-BER flight a couple of months ago. I emailed a copy pf the boarding pass to the Qantas FF email address and the points and SC were credited a couple of days later…

I’ve had the same experience but without the email…. Had to book over the phone. The agent volunteered that she would waive the telephone booking fee - what a favour!

Final bottle at a cracking lunch with a couple of mates… The label is a bit hard to follow - it’s a 2012 which is their 16th vintage apparently. Nice secondary flavours with black fruit and the savoury characteristics of Sangiovese.

The last flights I changed were to Queenstown. It took me 45 min on the phone to cancel 1 leg of return flights but the points / cash came through within a day or two.

I’ve cancelled / changed a few flights recently and have been pleasantly surprised about how quickly the points / cash has been refunded.

They are a bit coy on volume, but said they make up to 10,000 cases of Grange a year. She compared to first growth Bordeaux which she suggested are over 30,000 cases a year. No idea if this is accurate. She did confirm that volumes do fluctuate depending on the season. 10,000 cases at say...

I preferred the Grange over the 707 but YMMV…. The Penfolds lady did say they make triple the volume of Grange compared to 707 which I thought was interesting...
