    Interline Agreement QF/EK

Flying SYD-DXB and due to change in work plans, will now need to connect from MEL (EK ticket unchangeable). Can I check in QF domestic (MEL) and the baggage is then transferred to the EK flight in SYD? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

QF 747 in Adelaide this morning. Why?

I'd heard that yes, there was a diversion from MEL due to fog but that also the jet turned off the runway to a..er...dead end  Being ADL, there was a slight delay waiting for someone to come to work, grab the tug and reverse a jet back to where it should be:oops:!

    Help with Cairo/Marrakesh/Madrid & BKK

Any suggestions on how (or who) can assist with a forthcoming J trip (Nov 08) to Cairo, Marrakesh, Madrid then home via BKK for a few days. Currently I have a LH return to Europe with Egyptair/Iberia/RoyalAirMaroc sectors. Any advice would be great!

Can QFF Platinums get Y award seats released?

From my recent experience trying to put together a RTW QF jigsaw, I understand that they can request seats and get a reply in 'about 2 seconds'. If this comes back negative, some staff will suggest a 'manual review' while others say that they are unable to do this (maybe it depends on loads or...

    Thai lounge at Bangkok

If you're in J out of BKK, I'm unsure why you couldn't use any of TG's (?) 3 lounges which appear to be open very extended hours....:o

    Travel Insurance with CCs

Yes, from a personal (& traumatic) perspective, buy a policy and don't rely on the one offered by your card provider. If you're headed to the US and it all goes pear shaped as you're being wheeled into ED (without any pain relief because that doesn't commence until you're 'financial') and you're...

    Bad Experience at Montreal

The YUL airport 'welcome' is certainly not indicative of the city though! We had similar experiences to some mentioned here; rude, curt and surly staff. However once we were there, Montreal was a delight and remains one of my many favourite destinations to visit :D (unlike the BA check in...

    bangkok air discovery pass

Just returned from Asia using their airpass - worked well and no problems once we (finally) got the sectors confirmed (that was the difficult bit). Flew BKK - LPQ - BKK - USM - BKK. Ontime departures (most flights took off well before the advertised time so don't check in late). In LPQ they...

Stealing your candy - and eating it too!

Great travelogue NM! After much enlightenment (from reading your frequent contributions), I am considering the AA candy eating option for my RTW in *pant pant* 18 days. Any snags I should be aware of re: registering with AA (Oz address OK?). My J sectors with OW are: MEL - SYD - SFO - LAX (AC -...

    Travel Insurance

Covermore Dec04/Jan05 Partner slipped over in SFO & 'broke' leg. Transferred to hospital who were interested in $ before any pain relief could be administed  Insurance with Covermore who needed to chat with surgeon before authorising surgery (this was initially difficult). From there on...

SQ seats Just booked RTW SQ (J). They offered to allocate seats for each sector but were unable to for the waitlist sectors. They then allocated seats for each sector (including WL sectors!) :? Asked if there was a seat map which they advised 'yes, at their web site'. Have spent most of the...
