I am in credit with the ATO as well. I decided to ask for a refund rather than waiting till next BAS is due. The money is better in my account rather than their account and of course I will therefore need to pay BAS again soon...

Welcome Ibhayi. I have previously banked with ANZ. No problems with ATO payments using their Amex and no limits. I had to change to NAB about a year ago and have used NAB Platinum Amex for ATO without a problem. $100K limit per card is a nuisance so I arranged 3 accounts i.e. 300k limit per month.

Paying in advance is fine, although there is a " cost " - the ATO can be slow to give a refund and the money you have paid to ATO could be used to pay interest on a loan etc. This is a relatively minor cost but in a way there is no rush to pay in advance as long as other options such as Platinum...

Thanks Cove. I just tried a small test payment - points posted 2 days later. I will shortly be going into overdrive. It looks like points post automatically for any payment and it was just the double point bonus which was processed manually and alerted the bank to look at things more closely...

Many (including myself) have been using Altitude Black and other " personal " credit cards from other banks for BAS/ ATO spend and getting points from this - see ATO thread.

Please let us know if you are still getting points for this. The lady I spoke to implied they were looking at other Altitude Black card holders.... I have a final BAS (5 figure) to pay and would like to use Black for the last time - as long as I am assured I will get my points.
