Rules for booking really close up award flights internationally

Not sure about the link Dale but I have transcribed the graphic here: How far in advance can I book? Bookings can be made up to 353 days in advance and up to 24 hours before scheduled departure, unless you are booking on qantas.com where you can book up to 2 hours before departure for domestic...

Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

In my first reply to my own thread (that got a bit bigger than I anticipated at the start) — just booked my first mixed ASA: SYD–MEL (X class); MEL–CBR (U class); CBR–SYD (X class) for 32k + $272 to make up the 120SC (with DSC offer) that I need to make WP for the first time :)

Business Lounges closed 25 December 2013 to 12 January 2014

I know we're talking about Dom J lounges here, but can anyone ease my concern and clarify the Int F lounge is open on Christmas Day? Traipsing to Dallas on the 25th.

620SC as cheaply as I can

Being a novice at at the SC chasing game, I'd like to tap in to the wealth of experience here on AFF to help me achieve my goal. Currently a first-time SG thanks to favourable travel circumstances earlier this year. Sitting on 780SC. My membership year ends on 31 December. I'm taking my mum on...

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! I seem to be missing something … I have never received a DSC offer. I'm now SG aiming for WP by the end of the year. Is there any reason I've been missing out?

True… might have looked slightly dodgy!

    The WP shadow

Had a 'Sapphire shadow' next to me in first-row Y ('A' side) on my first flights as SG on CX - CX260 and CX139 CDG-HKG-SYD. On both flights the centre bulkhead of 4 was occupied by 1x MPC Diamond.

New Qantas Toolbar - Earn Bonus Points just for searching

Interestingly, I have been (temporarily) flagged for 'invalid use' - perhaps searching a little too fast on Day 1? Currently sitting on just 12 points and not going anywhere.

Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's? Great to hear you had success. Thanks for detailing the process you used.

    Paris - I won't be going back

To add my 2c, my family and I have just arrived back from spending some time in France. Our experience wasn't as poor as the OP's, but we agreed that Paris had changed a bit more since our last trip in 2007 and was generally less hospitable. Dad and I have fine French and that seems to win a...

Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

This question was being thrown around in a few threads last night: has anybody had success with securing a marginal ASA, after locating an appropriate Classic award and taking a punt with the call centre? Example: ultra simple dummy booking SYD-ADL-SYD in J 'ASA' (points + pay) - 86k points +...

    Are our points worthless now?

Still getting my head around the changes. Just did a simple dummy lookup of a SYD-ADL-SYD run in J. Points + Pay ('JASA' I guess) - 86k points + $1161 Classic award - 48k points + $80 Without an ExpertFlyer subscription is the best hope to give them a call and suggest those flights and...

    Took the gateway drug…*I'm hooked

In my case, it's that flying in future years is likely to be ~800SC, retaining SG with some extra room. Pushing out to 1400SC to earn WP in Year 1 is a stretch, but future years with 1200SC retention isn't that much of an effort. I'm SYD-based and fly regularly enough, both Dom and...

Ski USA. Tips and advice need

As an alternative to Colorado, check out Lake Tahoe on the California-Nevada border. There are seven resorts to choose from headlined by Heavenly, which is absolutely exceptional, and one of the best suited American fields for the terrain you're talking about. Plenty of easy / intermediate...

    Took the gateway drug…*I'm hooked

We got very lucky indeed! Overbooked J on our original QF107. Rare levels of QF generosity in offering my WP companion and I op-ups as compensation for our three hour wait for QF11, not that anyone should complain about extra time in the SYD F Lounge.

    Took the gateway drug…*I'm hooked

G'day AFF! Tom here, first-year uni student out of SYD. I've lurked here for the last six months or so as I have slowly caught the 'bug'. I was signed up for QFF at an early age by my parents and for a long while didn't realise it was quite possible to rise through the status ranks even on my...
