i would suggest exploring Singapore. Jewel is great and the kids would enjoy it. I am unsure if the bus tour that you could take without going through customs is back after covid but it was great. There is a hotel before customs with a pool that the kids might prefer more than the lounge

(Slightly off topic) Snowy Hydro are chartering Qantas planes from various cities to Cooma. As there is no commercial airline flying from Cooma it is very frustrating to see the plane on the runway knowing that there may be a spare seat on it.
