China - never a dull moment!

Personally I would address the visa issue first. My understanding is you can only get a visa with an invitation of someone in China - aka business inviting you to come to conduct business hence a business visa - or tour operator inviting you to come as you are part of a tour group. China...

China - never a dull moment!

Interesting? or Intrigued or Curious? I would be in the I will believe it when I see it camp. Just like I was with Musk and his Hyperloop. At its core is the cost to prove it is safe and low risk. To prove it is safe will take time and cost a lot - and will be derailed rapidly with the...

China - never a dull moment!

Not that much worse than an outing to a bath house in China for a full scrub down.

China - never a dull moment!

The sad thing is too many people see this news and panic today - vrs put it away and become aware this will impact the supply chain for them the most in 6-12 months time and act accordingly for the medium term. In my business, we started 2022 with plans to go big, and get into China in person...

China - never a dull moment!

It is nuts - but hasn't changed much in the past 12 months Has been 21 days for Shanghai and 28 days or more everywhere else in China for a good 12 months already. But post the first 14 days, it is honestly BS - as if you have a home, it is voluntary home isolation - hence the 14+14 day - as...

    APEC Business Travel Card

10 months on, and still no change. Waiting on Vietnam & PNG still to round off my APEC card. Have downloaded App on phone and seems my NZ APEC card started ticking from 2 August last year and has 2026 expiry so I am out of here unless asked for further updates - as I don't have plans to travel...

    Flights from China

China seems to have imposed rules that prohibit any transit passenger. The no transit PAX rule seems to apply everywhere - including NZ. It is a pick the direct flight if the price is ok - or look at having a 7 day holiday in Singapore and you are then no longer a transit PAX via Singapore.

China - never a dull moment!

With travel freeing up - who is starting to eye up trips to China now so we can start to see more posts here of the weird and wacky ventures in China? Any tips/apps to order food and pay via a western credit card when in China doing hotel quarantine and are able to order in food? I am all...

    APEC Business Travel Card

Had a look today, my application is pending approval from 4 countries: Brunei Mexico Papua New Guinea Vietnam All 15 other countries have approved it and I could get temp card issued for them today - but that starts the clock on my card's life - and as I don't plan to travel until March 2022 -...

China - never a dull moment!

My quick looking gets: No foreign person can travel to Macau currently unless you are a Macau Citizen or resident - or are from Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan. All travelers require a 14-21 quarantine and nothing less than 14 days from Hong Kong or Mainland China, with all other...

China - never a dull moment!

Do you have more information about the logistics of how they are doing that? Like - what flights are being taken to get to Macau to start with? Then what costs/quarantine is like in Macau? Then you can simply cross the border into China without them freaking out about a foreign looking person...

Currently going through my APEC card application in NZ - and was told back in February when I applied that 6 months is the norm - and told me they sent me an email last year saying that 6 months was the case, and you should be applying again 6 months before your current APEC card expires. I...

China - never a dull moment!

So with someone I know going through quarantine currently getting back to China & my plans to do what is necessary to get back to China myself in March 2022 - I started to look out for others who have elected to post about their quarantine experiences in China to learn and start to plan my...

    APEC Business Travel Card

Correct, and from NZ there is no need. However per China rules, you need their vaccine - which you cannot get in NZ or AU. You can get in Singapore. Hence if you get first jab in Singapore day 0, then second jab day 7, you need to wait until day 14 to be allowed to travel to China. My post...

    APEC Business Travel Card

You hope to go to China shortly? Or in time? I hope/planning to go to China March 2022. And be there for 3-4 months if allowed more than 90 days of a visa. Current rules to go to China: 1- You need a visa issued after March 2020, all visas prior to are void, APEC from what I read doesn't...

    APEC Business Travel Card

I put my application in to NZ for a renewal back in February - and still waiting. They told me 6 months is the norm for processing them currently as all the countries are taking ages to approve your application. With APEC, when you apply, your details are sent along with police files etc to...
