Managing Westjet flights booked on QF points

Yeah, I basically had to jump on the J SYD-YVR-SYD while it was there. I wasn't greatly concerned how I was gunna get to Toronto or back. I take your point though. But time isn't an issue, the bag and luggage fees are chicken feed IMO. I'm long over worrying about the minutiae of whose rules...

Managing Westjet flights booked on QF points

I just did this a couple of weeks ago. I'm going SYD-YVR-SYD J on points but my ultimate destination is Toronto. So I booked Westjet YVR-YYZ return on points. Step 1. Ring QF and get Westjet's PNR, quoting QF's PNR. Step 2 Plug that into Westjet's version of Manage your booking. Step 3 Buy...

Have you actually lost your passport before while travelling?

Guilty your honour. I lost mine between the plane boarding gate at Heathrow and the plane landing at Dublin Airport in 2015. I turned the plane upside down, twice. Clearly I had it to get through the gate at Heathrow, but it was nowhere to be found when we landed at Dublin. After a bit of...

    Abandoned in Bali by Jetstar

Yet another example in the very long list of reasons why the Australian Airline Industry needs legislation to cover instantaneous re-imbursement on cancellation as AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. Right then and there. Then we'll talk about the additional costs incurred. And that should also be...

Article: Bizarre Trick to Get Qantas First Class Awards

Beautiful, thank you. I just don't remember having to do that on single destination stuff. I'll give it a whirl.

Article: Bizarre Trick to Get Qantas First Class Awards

I cannot for the life of me get the view of the 4 week availability period that you have to come up for me. I'm a P1. I've tried multiple cities, domestic and international and it just always takes me straight to the individual day screen, even when choosing flexible with dates. It's driving...

    Is anyone still Platinum?

I'm P1 and have done what I believe was my retaining flight but the dashboard on the QF website shows me needing 1780 SC to retain P1, it doesn't say I've retained. Does anyone else's dashboard read the same way? I'm slightly concerned that I've been "dudded" I've got until Nov to rectify if...

Qantas petition to open state borders

Massive difference between attempting to get what you want from your employees' unions and directly shafting your customers, and your customer's employees ( Many of whom actually DO pay for their own ticket - I was one ) to make a point ( Self-interested as it may be ) don't you think? Many...

Qantas petition to open state borders

Who would you back in a legal contract dispute between BHP/RIO/FMG and QF/others? No way on earth are QF or others that stupid I'd think. That would be absolutely and spectacularly biting the hand that feeds you. And I know from personal experience that large mining companies are not noted for...

How come it didn't then? Generate profit and growth that is.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Yep. Over how many years of operations? Not good at all, being grounded for safety issues, but Ansett was a very long way superior to Tiger.

Legality [of Airports Blocking VA liveried Aircraft]

Maybe, but would PER have done what they did if VA paid their bill? What's PER's "commercial sense and judgement" got to do with VA being a poor payer? If you buy a service you should pay for it, or you run the risk of that provider withdrawing their service. Or taking other measures. I doubt...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Yep. Dead right. And let's not allow the story of exactly HOW we got to be self-funded retirees get in the way of a good "free-ride" bash.

Sometimes it's better to be rid of something bad than to enable it to carry on?

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Or maybe the landlord took the opportunity to get rid of a tenant that had been a pain in the bum for a while, and didn't care about the rent. ;) We'll never know, but having been fisted by more than one tenant myself I know that it isn't always the tenant who's the lovely, nice person and the...

Legality [of Airports Blocking VA liveried Aircraft]

I can't actually believe that people are classing PER airport as the bad guys here. Rudimentary cause /effect analysis would say that this, symbolically, wouldn't have happened if VA paid for what they got!
