Cathay Pacific Asia Miles major devaluation

Are there any seat-alert sites, ie. Expertflyer , that actually monitor CX awards via CX (not via AA/QF/JL etc) ?

New Amex redemption rates for SQ/EK; adding transfers to QR/HA

Qatar seems to offer two levels of business award, standard/saver for 90k one way , and Flex for 180k one way (Europe-Australia). SQ is about 130k saver and 154k flex. Appears to be lots of Qatar flex availability but much limited saver awards, and it seems very difficult to search for...

New Amex redemption rates for SQ/EK; adding transfers to QR/HA

QR availability isn't bad compared to KF.. and will get much better if they are allowed their 28 extra weekly flights. SQ KF is getting greedy with surcharges... try searching business class on Lufthansa USA-Europe or Thai Europe-Australia

Redemption to Europe in J waitlist for 350 days

It's not just 355 days out anymore, I found a SYD-SIN-FRA flight in SQ business award seat for a few months from now, even though the SIN-FRA segment wasn't available by itself.

Flights from Singapore to Europe 2023 Business class

If you're flexible, it's much easier to find business class on Thai Airways from Singapore/Bangkok to London/Frankfurt/Copenhagen/Zurich with Krisflyer miles. (Even though there's a fuel surcharge for booking Thai with Krisflyer miles). Easiest to check using the Krisflyer website, as it...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Until Australia is VTL , about half of all SQ flights from Europe are off limits. SQ is pretty strict about VTL in Europe - they are listing individual EU countries and requiring an official EU vaccine certificate issued by a VTL country. E.g. you can't visit Belgium during the 14 days...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I think the federal govt will mandate vaccination for adult travellers to Australia.. especially foreign students and tourists... Then have a pre-approval system for unvaxxed, which allocates quarantine capacity. So at check-in it's either "vaccine certificate" or "unvaxxed travel permit"...

Qantas Points Planes on SYD-LHR/LAX in November 2021

I wonder how many people book an award listed in the Business or First column, then are peeved when they find themselves sitting in Economy for all but 1 of their flights.

Qantas Points Planes on SYD-LHR/LAX in November 2021

I haven't seen QF disclose much about their FF accounting I guess they sell points to banks at , say 1c/pt, then part of that 1c/pt is immediate profit, and the rest is deferred until the points are used / expire / member dies. And I guess the banks are able to prepay QF for xx_ million points...

Qantas Points Planes on SYD-LHR/LAX in November 2021

I doubt the balance sheet liability is much more than 0.05c/point, so a classic business one-way award might only be $750 to their bottom line, versus circa $7500 for a paid fare.

You can leave Australia from November, but can you get back?

Before Covid , I found that Scoot (Singapore Air subsidiary) was the cheapest option for one way from Europe to Australia.

Qantas Points Planes on SYD-LHR/LAX in November 2021

Are these LHR-SYD flights running full capacity ? Still 1 or 2 business seats showing available (reward/paid) but no economy. At least QF did the right thing and made available for classic reward

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Thailand has an "approved quarantine hotel" system , where the hotel works with a medical provider to arrange testing / checkups / hospital transfers as needed. So the fixed hotel package is 7 (or more) days , but at extra cost to cover the extra services. Last time I checked , UK was making...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

What about vaccinated arrivals who don't have a home to self-quarantine in ? Is there a "softer" hotel quarantine option ? Traffic light system ? There's a lot to work out before airlines unlock all those seats
