    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

You can definitely check in early, as long as the desk is open. If you walked up to the check in desk 48 hours early, it may be a different story. But within the same day? Shouldn't be an issue at all.

    American Express Platinum Card question(s)

The terms of the MR system is that the points will remain as long as "your account is paid and is in good standing". This is open to interpretation in terms of leniency. I'm sure they'll be fairly lenient if you genuinely miss 1 payment (but have been good all other times) and all you may get...

AMEX Platinum Charge Benefits - Q&A

I'm thinking this is would be the reason as well. Usually all FHR rates are the fully flexible BAR whereas the Amex non-platinum site will pull out whatever cheapest room is available for booking, which may include the advance purchase rates or promo rates that you cannot cancel. In this...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Currently, both the 77W/WN and the WR operate out of SYD. So yes, if you try for the WR (222), then yes it'll be difficult to get the F award space. The other one (212) unfortunately seems to flick between the WN and the 77W so you aren't guaranteed to get the new F/J there.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Both the 77W flights in and out of SYD (212/222) recently have been the 77WN (mostly).

Amex Platinum charge 100K/$950 or 120K/$1,200

For one off free, maybe it's worth it. However definitely not worth the on-going annual fee difference however.

AMEX Platinum Charge Benefits - Q&A

Check the footprints for Golds. It it says 'only if you receive an upgrade to club floors' but this isn't always the case. I've heard of Golds getting access added on without club level rooms. 7Executive Floor Lounge Access Policy: The following policy applies at all Conrad® Hotels &...

AMEX Platinum Charge Benefits - Q&A

Nope, definitely not what I meant. If one was to say Hilton Golds ALWAYS gets club access, that would be incorrect. But at the same time, it would also be extreme to say that Golds NEVER get club access (I think the truth will be closer towards always then never though). if you have never been...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I'd suggest trying the mobile apps if you have access to one. I always try and use the iOS version whenever the website has issues and it seems to work just fine (also gives me more award options at times).

AMEX Platinum Charge Benefits - Q&A

For me, I think Hilton status > Accor status. Sofitels and maybe some Pullmans are the only hotels that are remotely close to being decent in the Accor chain and a lot of these properties are really dated. Not to mention that they don't do free breakfast even for Platinums (and the Aussie...

    MR Transfer time to SQ

I "think" (and big emphasis on this) is that the transfer to SQ is overnight. In most cases, I've had the points post the following morning. In contrast, I "know" transfers to CX only happen twice a week as suggested. I believe this is done on Tuesdays and Fridays so if you lodge the request...

Meet me in the SQ Lounge thread

Speaking as an Asian background myself, I doubt many Asians know what good coffee actually means. Most of my friends living in Asia would say Starbucks is like the best coffee ever and all you should have are their americanos. They look at you weird if you order an espresso.

A discussion on the ethics and legality of scripting 1 cent transactions!

Re: Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion] There's a percentage based fee but also a fixed fee that everyone involved in the transaction has to pay. For example, in case of switching, there's a switching fee per transaction that is a flat rate, yet it moves in tiers (so if you do...

A discussion on the ethics and legality of scripting 1 cent transactions!

Re: Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion] I think the discussion is heading towards the correct way. Had the word 'abuse' been used at the beginning, i think this much is something that everyone would agree on (maybe perhaps to different degrees) as it is clear people are using...

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Re: Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" bonus given thread. Currently have the Amex Plat charge, edge & reserve cards. I've always been calling each year and getting anything from around 20k to 50k in 'incentives' for renewing the charge card (nothing on the edge because I didn't bother calling)...

In case of my ANZ QF card, they had that in the official terms but I got my passes within 5 working days after calling the concierge to request them.

A discussion on the ethics and legality of scripting 1 cent transactions!

Re: Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion] If this was true word by word, then yes that would be deception because you are making a payment that the merchant that would not have otherwise accepted. But setting up a macro to automate what you'd normally do (i.e. you can perfectly...

A discussion on the ethics and legality of scripting 1 cent transactions!

Re: Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion] Actually, the 'reasonable' ness isn't up the consumer or the bank to decide. The customer and the bank has entered into an agreement, upon which the bank provides a service as defined (which is what we call a Product Disclosure Document...

A discussion on the ethics and legality of scripting 1 cent transactions!

Re: Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion] I fail to see how macros = fraud. This argument, to me, is just laughable. There's no connection between how macros automatically translates to a fraudulent activity. Yes there are instances where using macros would be illegal, but there...

    Avianca Brazil Amigo status match

I definitely agree that this can happen as it happened to be a fair few times as well. But I've come to recently discover that Star Alliance official rules say otherwise. As long as you can show proof of your status (even if it isn't a card), there's no requirement for the *G to be on the...
