This is a long thread and apologies if I have missed it, but do Qantaslink flights count for the status extension? Should I have received a notification are flying or is it a wait and see?

We are in exactly the same situation, dragged our feet on our travel insurance and now relying on the credit card insurance for any cancellation losses due to the volcano.

I would like some type of lifetime recognition - this is the primary reason I am considering swapping to Qantas. I do lots of flying now but later in life who knows, but what I do know is that even if I am not a frequent flyer in the future I will still pick the one that makes my life the easiest.

That muesli bar they offer is a joke, I never accept it.

4th year of platinum now, feel like this benefit isn't that great now.

We use the portal at work, it is fine not as easy to use as the public site but easy enough if you are posting here you will be able to use it. I believe there is currently a good discount on Singapore Airlines flights through the portal as well

I just did New Years over at Koh Samui, I think it ticks most of your boxes on relax, chill and safe. Cheap beer as well!

Has anyone been able to use their Hertz points for a redemption in Australia? Is there some trick every time I get the following message. It looks like you don't have enough points to Redeem a Hertz Gold Plus Reward or the location is currently not accepting points.

Good deal in my opinion I have over half a million velocity points and the following redemption flights already booked. Business return to Koh Samui on Singapore Airlines. First return to Tokyo on Singapore Airlines and I still have half a million... Use them when and while you can in my opinion.
