QF domestic return - consequence of no-show for outbound leg?

Thanks all - not as simple as it first appeared!

    NAB Rewards Business Signature Card

Hi all, a question about the NAB Rewards Business Signature Card (not the QF version): do the bonus points and regular earn go into an individual rewards account, or some kind of central account for the business? I know that NAB recently changed how things work for the QF version of this card...

QF domestic return - consequence of no-show for outbound leg?

Interesting ... but, the first agent I spoke to explicitly said I didn't even have to notify them - just not show up. I just called again, and got a different person, who said what I was told was incorrect, and a no show would indeed result in cancellation of the rtn. Anyway, I have now got it...

QF domestic return - consequence of no-show for outbound leg?

No you are correct. However, the way this works in practice is they issue a credit for the full value of the fare, and then only apply the $99 change fee when you redeem the credit. It's a strange way to do it, but that's QF for you. For example, if the fare is $250, they give you a credit for...

QF domestic return - consequence of no-show for outbound leg?

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought - furthermore, I am not sure if she was correct in saying I'd have to pay 2 x change fees. I have never heard of that before either. I was not actually sure if it was even possible to cancel one leg of a return booking.

QF domestic return - consequence of no-show for outbound leg?

Hi all, I have a QF domestic return booking, but I can no longer make the outbound leg. QF does not have a suitable alternative option for the outbound leg, so I wanted to cancel the QF outbound and book a new one way with VA (and keep the return leg of my existing QF booking). I called QF to...

Is credit card churning coming to an end?

Just checking - is it still the case that when they say 'You are not eligible for this offer if you currently hold or have held an ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 12 months', this means a card that earns points in the ANZ Rewards program, and not an ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card? To...

    Last day as VA Platinum

Although VA have blurred these lines a lot by giving SCs via credit cards & FlyBuys. Having said that, I'm not sure why @dfar5370 feels there has not been "adequate recognition of land-based loyalty".

    Last day as VA Platinum

Just in case anyone else was considering doing this - I dropped down to Gold last week, but I requested a status match under the Business Flyer promotion and it has come through, so I'm back to Platinum for another year.

I think you've missed my point. I was highlighting the fact that it's extremely important for VA to strictly enforce the rules around family pooling, to stop people from easily getting status. I agree that this is not really an issue, because they do enforce the rules. I actually said that in...

To be fair, you have to first get at least 1,000 SCs within a year to get yourself to Platinum, and then earn another 1,800 SCs within the subsequent year before you can gift Platinum, so it's a pretty high bar. I doubt if much of the lounge overcrowding is due to this particular benefit.

    Last day as VA Platinum

And Golds I think? I wonder if the lounge overcrowding will become less of an issue on 1 April?

    Velocity account suspended

I realise that, but it still means (in theory) that someone could get to Platinum by taking just 4 short domestic rtn flights, if they can get enough SCs pooled by others. That's pretty ridiculous, when you consider that the equivalent flights with QF would only get you about a quarter of the...

Another issue for VA is related to status, because they allow SCs to be pooled as well as points (which is something that is almost unique to VA, AFAIK). Given that 6 members can be added to a family pool, it’s possible for someone to get to Platinum without even earning 200 SCs in their own...

How early in advance do Air France release rewards seats to Qantas FF (for Gold/Plat)?

I'm genuinely not sure what your point is at this stage. Yes, QF tried to limit QR's attempted further expansion into Australia. Among other things, QF alleged that QR were relying on state aid to sell tickets below cost, and exploiting a loophole in an incentive to use regional airports - by...

How early in advance do Air France release rewards seats to Qantas FF (for Gold/Plat)?

I'm well aware of the dispute between QF and QR - but it's certainly not all one sided. E.g. QR has been restricting access to reward seats for QFF members for some time, and most recently pretty much removed any access to QR rewards for QFF members. BTW, as stated in the AFF article on this...

How early in advance do Air France release rewards seats to Qantas FF (for Gold/Plat)?

QF was one of the 5 founding airlines of OW, so questioning why they are in OW is kind of odd. You criticise QF for "jumping in bed with everyone" but QR has just jumped into bed with the biggest competitor to QF in its home market. QR also has partnerships with 6 or 7 other non-OW airlines...

Fantastic! The credit must go to @TomVexille though - this had not occurred to me either - I just agreed with what he said!

    Last day as VA Platinum

That is correct, actually - great point. @hydrogen1 you should definitely phone up about this ASAP, if your child hasn't turned 2 yet. This would actually give you another 18 months of Platinum - even better than if you had accrued the eligible sectors. BTW, thinking about it further, I wonder...
