Seat Selection for BA flight (booked as QFF redemption) separate bookings

So I've just booked a flight on BA (with QFF points) in business class (rewards) on which I was able to select seats quite easily (QF Gold / OW Sapphire). Turns out that I had to make another booking for a family member on the same flight, and unfortunately they had no status so wasn't able to...

SQ to SQ - separate bookings

Inter terminal connection in SIN is never a big deal, both for bags and pax. Experience with SQ is they'll probably check through your bags without issues. Even if you have to collect and re-check, 1h50m is more than enough, except if delayed.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

It seems that ATO have just jacked up the card payment fee (Visa/MC) to 0.54% from previously 0.42%. Still somewhat profitable though... so I still pay with CC. Edit: ah, it seems to have been discussed above :D

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I think someone said the Qantas discovery card (free, blue color) also does 1 point per dollar.

Bankwest Qantas MasterCard - Platinum. Earn 50,000 Qantas points. $160 annual fee

In my case I'm existing BW customer with a PAN, so I guess no need to ID. The application was conditionally approved online.

Bankwest Qantas MasterCard - Platinum. Earn 50,000 Qantas points. $160 annual fee

I wonder how long they normally take for processing the applications. I applied online last week and sent my payslip via email. Haven't heard from them ever since...

Yeah in my case it's personalized "fly to Singapore...." I originally thought it's for flights to Singapore only (how special!) which I've been looking around for.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

AMEX Platinum Edge - 15000 points + first year annual fee free!

It seems that they've upped the referral bonus on this card. Referrer now gets 30k points per referee (previously 20k?) while referee gets 15k points upon spending 550$. http://amex.com.au/refer/andrikHnl6

100,000 velocity points for velocity platinum amex with referral

Another data point: I signed up while having another Amex CC (by Amex), indicating so in the application form, and was approved and got my sign-up bonus. So far I haven't heard of any one being denied the sign up bonus. Amex do (from what I hear) limit customers to two cards at a given time...

    Lounge access without card?

I'm not sure what you've been told about Qantas cash is correct. If I'm not mistaken even after you get the new card, you'll still need to reactivate with the new Qantas cash card to transfer it across. I assumed until this is done, the old card keeps working (the Qantas Cash part have a longer...

If you're travelling shortly, it is possible to call them up and have them expedite, e.g. similar to getting a replacement card.

    Lounge access without card?

In a couple of occasions when my status changed e.g. gold to platinum, I have had to call in and get the agent to "remove the number and put it in again" so my correct status is affixed to the itinerary (if it was booked prior to status change). Without doing so, I wasn't able to select...

Reduction in Transfer Rates to Velocity/Krisflyer

From experience payments used to be processed really quickly, and then they "upgraded" the system, making it _always_ fall into the longer end (sometimes even beyond) of the acceptable processing time that they advertised. There's only one reason that makes sense to me: it's done intentionally.

Reduction in Transfer Rates to Velocity/Krisflyer

I would imagine people dealing with S****ybank going forward would read the T&Cs in a "what's in there that's going to bite me" instead of "yeah that's reasonable" perspective. Really when the goodwill is lost, no amount of T&Cs would make me trust the counterparty.

Reduction in Transfer Rates to Velocity/Krisflyer

Quote from the ACCC case: "Loyalty program promoters risk misleading consumers and breaching the fair-trading provisions of the Trade Practices Act 1974 if they: advertise awards that are not available as represented hide in the fine print or fail to disclose the truth about the...
