Could you live in a hotel?

Quite common for people to live in Hotels here in Port Moresby. When we first arrived we had a 2 bedroom suite for two months with full kitchen. Some of the big hotels specialist in long term tenants, and there are apartments here that you can walk into with just a suitcase and everyone bar...

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Sat beside Darren Lockyer today from BNE>POM on VA.. Y. FA swooned all over him and even remembered the last flight they were both on down to the seat number. 1st bonus: she gave him snacks/meals for free, so I got freebies too. Bonus 2: turns out he was coming to see us at work anyway, so...

Qu: Koru lounge guest and child access for velocity gold

There is absolutely no problem with this. As VA Gold I guested my wife and 3 kids into the Koru lounge at least 20 odd times before wifey hit gold/platinum. AirNZ really look after families in that respect.

NZ Credit Card for Velocity Points

yeah - most of my transactions now are not in NZ. I actually have a difficult income contract, contract is AUD, and then it gets brought into PNG and also transferred to NZ. Ideally, if I had AUD staying in AUS that would be of benefit, as I sometimes get sucked dry when the FX rates aren't good..

NZ Credit Card for Velocity Points

After some research last night, I figured out ASB in NZ is commbank, which allows you to creat a bank account in AUS from NZ. Must use the ASB verification.... the only issue I have with the standard AMEX transfer is that it is $35 a transfer, so going to contact AMEX and see if I can apply...

NZ Credit Card for Velocity Points

thanks for that - can't for the life of me figure out how I missed that... Now just got to hope they don't see PNG as a barrier :)

NZ Credit Card for Velocity Points

Hope someone can help. I was hoping to find a NZ based credit card that would accumulate against Velocity. The velocity ones all say that I must be an Australian resident, however I am stuck in the middle being a tax-resident of PNG, and a resident of NZ. I don't have an Australian bank...

Sunday Service BNE POM - July

VA has better connections for some of us :). It has to be targeted at resident families, much easier to come in on a Sunday flight to get the kids off to school on Monday morning... But it would be nice if they dropped the flexi back down to a reasonable rate, 100% over saver for a scummy...

    Maxi Taxi - BNE Airport

Awesome thanks - :) even $60 each way is less painful than a hire car... Appreciate the reply.

    Maxi Taxi - BNE Airport

Normally would, but a taxi to Chermside is under $40 each way, and we are staying at a little motel directly beside the mall. We won't be going anywhere else :). Fly in Thursday evening, fly out Saturday morning - shop all day Friday :)

    Maxi Taxi - BNE Airport

Spending two days enroute to Vanuatu in BNE mid June. And have to get 2 Adults and 3 kids to Chermside where we will be staying put doing some shopping. Do maxi taxis actually sit on the rank at BNE, or somewhere close by? The flight from POM can be notoriously late, so not sure if I should...

Sunday Service BNE POM - July

FYI for anyone looking to come up to Port Moresby, subject to approval VA will finally be flying in and out of POM on a Sunday (to BNE). And I have to say... About time! I'm still not keen to book advance tickets until they get approval, but given the heavy loads Friday and Monday, I can see a...

Misread expiry date of SC's, now no Platinum

Just wondering if you have the same issue with status matches? Or 20 point comps after having a status match in the first place? They must have assessed this on it's merits, hopefully noted that over the 12 month period that account had received 1080 SC's, but due to the flight date rather...

Misread expiry date of SC's, now no Platinum

Yeah - that's where she likes Gold - lol :) which only lasts longer if someone doesn't pinch it off ya ;)

Misread expiry date of SC's, now no Platinum

I like row 3 - she likes row 4 - go figure! As a followup to all this, and I do appreciate the comments (I was getting ready to suck it up as per), last night I logged into our accounts to organise flights in March and "hello!" wife is now Platinum. I do need to do a nice email to the team...

Misread expiry date of SC's, now no Platinum

I'm just doing my head in, I've been working myself and my wife through Gold (then renewing Gold), and then wife onto "almost" Platinum this past year. I accidentally misread the date for the expiration of my wife's SC's for last year, they were flown on the 17th January 2013 but processed on...

    Air Niugini up the creek

So did the locals :) It was full of British American Tobacco products, that were looted by local settlers, today's paper asked people to stop looting crashed planes - lol

Port Moresby - Singapore via Brisbane in Y

VA4191 BNE-POM Flight for me on time, and had my preferred 3D with a shadow. Plane was surprisingly full but with only 1 person in J. Crew didn't say hi, and were pretty sour the whole trip, so I decided to be one of those horrid people that sends them back for a hot pie after they have just...

Port Moresby - Singapore via Brisbane in Y

SIN - BNE SQ235 At T3 used the Business Class checkin, but had a few issues as our booking was linked up, but we were transferring to different countries once in Brisbane. This took a while to sort out, and we were put into row 59, which I knew was the first row of 3 middle seats and would be...

Port Moresby - Singapore via Brisbane in Y

BNE - SIN SQ256 Used premium checkin, but on a full flight discovered that we had been moved from pre assigned row 41 back to row 62. So much for allocation, however it turned out alright as the 5 of us were together with 62 having 3 middle seats rather than 4, and they were only slightly...
