Given its a credit card, not a charge card (and they aren't allowed to offer inducements to not cancel credit cards AFAIK), do you have to actually go through with cancellation in order to get an offer to re-instate the card?

Park Hyatt Melbourne. I checked the pricing at the time (was in Nov IIRC) out of curiosity , and at that time the best rate I could find on the ambassador suite was $2700/night. So was a pretty big upgrade. I have been upgraded on every FHR stay, but none so generous as this one.

As a data point, I can say that when I recently did a refinance with CBA, they checked my credit file and asked about all of the credit cards they identified from it, but did not ask (and weren't interested when I mentioned it) about the amex charge card I have.
