    Noise Cancelling Headphones

Thanks for that Off to get some earplugs (hopefully won't need them) I suspect some bands use volume as a substitute for quality.

Ripper thunderstorm in Melbourne just now - although it might be over quite quickly it was quite tropical in spectacularity (?)

    Noise Cancelling Headphones

I was at a function last night where the band was good but unnecessarily loud. I have always hated excessively loud music particularly coming from a family where deafness in old age is common, and I need my hearing for my work, so I have become less willing to tolerate it. I also have a friend...

I Wondered why the "Scallops" were so cheap!?!!

Re: The totally off-topic thread At school in QLD we used to have delicious scrolled spicy fruit buns with pink icing that were called Boston buns. If you ask for them in Victoria you get something quite different, that is covered in coconut and you slice and then butter it. The closest pale...

I learnt about it on the ABC radio. Several reminders through last week. Don't remember anything on TV. I agree you could miss easily though.

    Daylight Saving Discussion

That theory holds fine unless your working hours are not determined by you. The kinds of activities that most people treasure that extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day for are not things that are suitable for most of us before work. I also wouldn't want to have a relaxing round of golf...

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

We're using a verbal contract. One of my cats has me on a roster system, where I am employed 1 week out of 2 or 3. I have yet to meet my co-employees although I have a rough idea where they live.

    Apple iPhone 6 / 6 plus

I've had the glass screen replaced twice on my trusty iPhone 4. The second time was after trying to slam the car door shut in the dark, wondering why the door wouldn't close. Every time a new iPhone comes out I get tempted, but it's still going fine. When's the 7 coming out?

    Worse than feet on bulkheads

What's so obscene about a healthy clean non-odorous well maintained foot? Would a skimpy sandal or thong make it ok? While I wouldn't necessarily encourage it, in the relative privacy of an airline seat on a long flight, it's not like flashing wobbly bits.

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

The postscript I did eventually get, it was actually a flight that day, which had to be cancelled. At considerable expense a new passport was issued in 5 hours.( to add icing to the cake, the macerated passport was only 2 weeks old) and he boarded another flight much later that night. When he...

Surveys and "you do not qualify for this particular survey"

My point being that normally they ask for my age, and I understand that, but not "exact date of birth" . Given that this is used to help identify/ verify your identity when dealing with financial institutions, I don't hand it out casually.

Surveys and "you do not qualify for this particular survey"

Does anyone do the frequent flyer rewards survey invitation surveys? I'm mostly ineligible, so ignore them unless I'm bored. The last 2 surveys have asked for my precise date of birth ( which I make up) before then disqualifying me. I find this a bit creepy.

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Nominating this contender for the naughtiest cat of the year: A charming 1 year old of my acquaintance. We always said that he was going to cost his owners a fortune but were thinking more of vet fees as he is prone to getting into trouble. The husband of the household was organised for his...

    The totally off-topic thread

My mum rang to tell me about Dodi, but Diana's death was not announced until a few hours later. I was on the freeway at the time. I realised I was driving more slowly, and noticed that all the cars around me had simultaneously also slowed down.
