AS a QR Emerald I can see award availability for CBR-DOH but here is the kicker, the SYD-DOH leg is normal award pricing in J but when CBR-DOH is selected then it is double the award Miles (flexi award). Going on this metric, maybe the CBR-DOH is not available to other oneworld award programs.

I called the Qantas customer service booking and they could book the above flight so I guess the easiest method is to find the flights on ITA matrix and book them with QF over the phone.

Just wondering how to book QF Economy (B) international fares. Seems impossible to do from generic website booking engines. I know that the fare is flexi but is there any way to know during the flight selection process to see whether the fare bucket is either H Y or B. Am I missing something...

You need to start a third account, perhaps a relative or son/daughter who does not fly. Buy some miles and then transfer (although the transfer may cost money).

Not sure which FF you are with, but if AA try for mileage points compensation with a letter to the CEO, if not AA, then I suggest you do have an AA account in the future, I am sure that if you traveled F to LAX with another FF program AA would likely give you 10k miles as compensation.
