Beware the complicated conditions of card travel insurance

Citi Bank Emirates Platinum World Card. Has anyone experience with the Zurich insurance attached to this card?

    New Citibank Terms & Conditions

Which Citibank card did you apply for? As far as I know Citi still has a card/s that can be linked to QF. I'd be interested to learn about your research to find an alternative to the Citibank Emirates Platinum Card, or whatever it is your are wanting to replace.

    New Citibank Terms & Conditions

@Cove. I'm doing the same with my Bank of Melbourne card. At least this way I'll get some QF points In any given year we pay a considerable sum in financial, insurance and government (e,g, rates) charges and premiums via Citibank. I guess this will be its loss.

    New Citibank Terms & Conditions

Tnx. I hope you're correct. Bear in mind that the new T&Cs come into effect on 1 May 2014. It may be a case of 'watch this space' post this date.

    New Citibank Terms & Conditions

Please make your own inquiries. I specifically asked about a whole range of insurances and was given answers in the negative. On what basis are you making your assertion?

    New Citibank Terms & Conditions

I spoke with Citibank today. Only retail spends will earn points. All insurances are exempt from earning points.

    New Citibank Terms & Conditions

On 3 December 2013 I received a letter from Citibank re "Changes to your Emirates Citibank Platinum Card". The major changes are: EARN RATE : CURRENT : EFFECTIVE 1 MAY 2014 Domestic spend per A$1 : 1.5 Skywards mile : 1 Skywards mile International spend per A$1 : 1.5 Skywards mile : 1.5...

    Redemption for Australian Domestic Flights

I did this last year MEL-BNE-TSV return. I had to do it over the telephone with EK. ***Unless you have a very sound reason for doing this, which I thought I did at the time (job security) but in the end didn't, this is not good use of EK points.*** Better to use them for international...

Best way to use points (new to QFF, please be gentle...)

I've read on AFF and elsewhere that a cost effective use of points is to book a cash economy fare and use points to upgrade. What is the consensus? After recently using some EK points to book MEL-TSV-MEL flights on QF (don't ask why, long story, it was not cost effective, and I should have...

    Skywards miles

I still feel The Emirates Citibank Platinum MC is a good product. The benefits appear to have been diluted a little since the EK/QF partnership. If I have a problem it's that Citibank as an organisation can be difficult to communicate with. I know I'm not alone with the latter sentiment...

Citibank Emirates Platinum Master Card. EK-QF FF program alignment.

I'm not sure how this figure has been calculated. Like so much general advice, it always comes down to the individual's own circumstances. e.g. in my own case I run a line of credit home/investment property portfolio loan and charge as much as I possibly can to this card each month, paying the...

Emirates ff points = Qantas FF points?

    They're in three different threads.

Citibank Emirates Platinum Master Card. EK-QF FF program alignment.

I have been very happy with this product for several years. However the recent alignment of EK and QF frequent flyer programs has me concerned. e.g. I'm unhappy about EK increasing the number of Skywards points required to purchase a ticket, to the same as QFF. e.g. MEL-SIN-MEL with EK was...

Emirates ff points = Qantas FF points?

There has been further information about this released recently by both QF and EK. It's important from a rewards points earning and spending perspective to understand how the new rules work and the implications for your own situation. One thing I'm unhappy about as a Citibank Emirates Platinum...

What's the status of status credits on the Qantas-Emirates deal??

Re: QF-EK redemption misalignment There has been further information about this released recently by both QF and EK. It's important from a status and rewards points earning and spending (in the case of the latter) perspective to understand how the new rules work and the implications for your...

Jetstar DUTY FREE Carry On prohibited

Agree with you re SIN and DXB. Both places have proactive governments prepared to make long term plans and policies then act on them, and not become beholden to focus groups and public opinion poles. The results speak for themselves.

Jetstar DUTY FREE Carry On prohibited

Jetstar is a Low Cost Carrier. Like other LCCs (Tiger, et al) you get what you pay for, which is usually a seat and not much more. If you want full service with the bells and whistles, don't use a LCC. This issue hasn't been one for me for decades. I gave up buying DF alcohol at point of...

What's the status of status credits on the Qantas-Emirates deal??

Re: QF-EK redemption misalignment Tnx. An interesting perceptive. As I've mentioned previously, how one views this (i.e. the value) depends on how one earns the points in the first place. "The countries currencies are not the same. Nor will the points be the same value." True, but many...

What's the status of status credits on the Qantas-Emirates deal??

Re: QF-EK redemption misalignment @oz_mark. Agree, and what also effects this is how and at what rate one earns points. e.g. at 0.5, 1, or 1.5 points per dollar spent, or miles flown, or from FF program partners, etc. I've not done analysis to compare the earn rate/mile flown of EK Vs QF...

What's the status of status credits on the Qantas-Emirates deal??

QF-EK redemption misalignment Status credits aside for one moment, one issue I can't find an answer to is: How will the two FF programs align when the redemption values are different? e.g. QF MEL-SIN-MEL Economy = 60,000 QFF points EK MEL-SIN-MEL Economy = 45,000 Skywards points Does...
