Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I've just transferred another 500K to SQ, after originally doing 500K 2 weeks ago. I'm 'sticking' with VA to the tune of 330K :D. There was already plenty of bad financial press for VA prior to this pandemic so the risk of default is getting higher IMHO. I will continue to watch and may yet...

Qantas classic reward seat availability drivers/trends

Sorry that I can't add much value other than to say I have also noticed an extremely low availability from May - Sep 2020 for Emirates premium cabins from Aus to DXB. I've only started looking in earnest in the last few days to look for trending availability. Anyone else noticed this?

Family of 4 - FF to Europe

Hi all, I'm planning a family trip to Europe for about 5 weeks in Sep/Oct 18 so I'm into the research phase to work out the best routes / use of points for a family of four (hoping to travel business class). Prefer to depart from BNE but SYD / MEL are ok, and prefer to arrive to pretty much...

    Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

No letter as of yesterday, this will now make collecting the mail very suspenseful... I only have a single card in my name and a single card in my wife's name so will report in if we get notification!

ANZ has launched its Black Rewards card

I know there was one of these VA 15% prmos late last year, does anyone know when the next time it might be offered or is it pretty much random? I am planning to transfer all my points and shut down this card but I might hang on if there is a bonus soon.

    QFF or Velocity

My thoughts: 1. No, the additional personal expense is not worth it IMHO. If business / work was funding the bulk of the first 1000SC's then I would say go for it but doing it all yourself doesn't pass muster in my book. However I acknowledge that we all have different thresholds in terms...

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Yes, I am always suspicious about 'Lifetime' warranties, or 'Lifetime' programmes as it is up to what the definition of the Lifetime is or what it could be changed to mean. For example, as long as they don't re-define 'Lifetime Gold' to mean the lifetime of the program itself, oh and by the way...

Thanks for clarifying. I never stop getting amazed by the combined knowledge / experience immediately at hand on AFF.

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Noting the following on the QFF website: 'You must fly a minimum of four eligible flight segments on Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar and earn the required Status Credits to keep/reach your tier during your membership year.' For the first time in many years I have not undertaken 4...

When to stop being loyal to an airline (QANTAS)

I 'left' Qantas in March this year simply because I was bored with the product / service after over 20 years pretty consistently using them domestically. So I wanted to try out Virgin for a change. There was no particular defining moment / bad service issue and I will fly Qantas again (in fact...

SSSS on QF boarding pass (extra security screening)

Interesting about Israel, as whenever I got SSSS I had been travelling to Israel within the previous few months / weeks. Perhaps simply a 'middle east' connection?

SSSS on QF boarding pass (extra security screening)

Yeah, I am unsure what triggers this too. A bunch of trips I did as part of a group of people to the US in the early 2000's and we all (4 of us) had SSSS on our boarding passes pretty much every trip. We were all using Aus gov't passports with appropriate visa's etc. Very odd and there was no...

    Virgin Slow with points

Agree also, they take a while. Usually a couple of business days at least. Also changing status levels doesn't seem to be auto-linked to the total of status credits listed i.e. I had a total greater than 1000 listed in my account for a couple of days before the status changed to Plat.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

So to summarise what I think I have read over the last couple of pages about current available options (excluding fancy US based card approaches), it seems that BankWest and Qantas Credit Union are the main stayers for earning QFF points. Is anyone aware of any Velocity point earning options...

Re: Accor Flash Sale up to 50% off at Participating AP Hotels - *Book from 11 to 13 N Not sure whether I am getting the sale fares or not - perhaps there is just no availability. Could anyone check Melbourne for 25 Nov and let me know what your seeing at the Sofitel, Sebel, Novotel?

Never get those DSC email invitations

Well then, that is pretty solid supporting evidence that they are indeed issued on a totally random basis. I have also never received one in 17 years of being a QFF / QC member! (not that I'm jealous of those that have received them or anything!!!)
