Group of 25 flying SYD-SFO - Discount Negotiations

Hmm I'm pretty sure we can be split up over 2 or 3 flights, so hopefully availability isn't an issue with the cost. But will have to get onto it soon. I have a contact at QF so I'll ask them for advice too. Will update you all about the deal when it's sorted.

Group of 25 flying SYD-SFO - Discount Negotiations

Ok so personally I would prefer QF, but I'm not the one coughing up the credit card. Is there ANY possibility of getting a group discount with QF that could work out as the same price as UA...? Or am I dreamin'?

Group of 25 flying SYD-SFO - Discount Negotiations

I haven't flown with UA before, but I've read numerous negative posts about them. They are the only ones who fly direct SYD-SFO and the cheapest, but I think for a reason. What's so bad about flying with them? Small seats, bad service... any entertainment?

Group of 25 flying SYD-SFO - Discount Negotiations

Thanks for the advice, but I think I'd prefer to do it without an agent, learn something new. Good tip about transfers from the airport though - hadn't even thought of that.

Group of 25 flying SYD-SFO - Discount Negotiations

Hi there, I've never booked a flight for more than 2 people, let alone 25, so just wondering whether anyone here has done this before and would like to part with any advice? Also what kind of discount should I be aiming for when talking with airlines (if any)? We'll be travelling beginning of...

    USA domestic specials.

Are any of these airlines considered LCCs? For some reason I thought Spirit, AirTran and Southwest were but when I look at some of their fares, they're pretty pricey.

return or one way, why the difference?

Sometimes it's even cheaper to buy a return airfare to HNL, then another return from HNL to the US (SFO or LAX work best). Last week I found 2 x returns SFO-HNL direct and HNL-MEL direct for US$1,114 ai.

    RTW Advice

You can take out 2 legs by routing from SCL-LIM-GIG and adding in Cuzco from Lima with a Star Peru return flight for US$119. Or if you have the time to take an overnight bus, they can be pretty luxurious and quite cheap - think a business class seat - and some even have wifi! They don't compare...

Passport running out of pages...size (physical) of various visa /entry stamps

I've only been to Peru on your list, but if you're visiting Machu Picchu there's a pretty cool passport stamp there that you can get that takes up about a 1/3 of a page (but it's not mandatory). Other countries that take up a whole page are Mongolia, India, Egypt, Thailand and Laos.

Have friends ever paid you to find them flights?

My thoughts exactly - having a base price to start off with is key so you know that you're saving them money and how much. If they don't give me a quote they've found or from a TA, I usually do a quick search on Expedia and use the cheapest flight there as my starting-off price to beat. I've...

Have friends ever paid you to find them flights?

Thank you for all of your opinions. I am the same in that I'm happy to find flights for friends without expecting anything in return (some wine wouldn't go astray though) :) But it's gone beyond friends now to people I don't know, so I think it's ok to try to monetise it. I'm now working to...

Have friends ever paid you to find them flights?

But this is just the process of searching for flights and giving a couple of options, then leaving the actual booking up to them so it's not your responsibility. I think there are a number of flyers that are not net-savvy enough and either go to a travel agent or search one of the major search...

Have friends ever paid you to find them flights?

Yes but travel agents don't have aligned interests - they want you to book the flight where they get the best commission. Plus I've been to a number of travel agents over the years and none of them have found better fares than what I can find on the internet. They usually search A to B on...

Hello and advice wanted from a forum newbie but seasoned traveller

Hmmm not really... I'm working while I travel so it's not holiday travel. Basically it costs me more to live in Sydney than it does to travel the world and live in almost any other city for 3 months at a time (or however long the tourist visa is for).

Have friends ever paid you to find them flights?

I've been travelling/flying all over the world for some time and quite frequently. And I've realised I become quite the flight-finding-zombie when searching for flights - trying to get the absolute best possible flight combinations for the cheapest price. I've found that flexibility is the key...

Knowledge is power - thanks again AFF :)

I am also just a leisure traveller but work while I travel (self employed). I've applied for a few credit cards with FF points over the years but really haven't known quite what I was doing... I hope to become as knowledgeable as you guys with the goal being a first or business class RTW trip on...

Hello and advice wanted from a forum newbie but seasoned traveller

Hello from a forum newbie but seasoned traveller Hi everyone, I've been travelling around the world for the last 18 months or so, staying 1-3 months in different cities across North and South America, Europe and Asia. I like the flexibility of deciding last-minute where to go next and the...
