    I don't think you can change the fare class without a cancellation and reissue. Even when you win a bid upgrade, the airline cancels your original ticket and issues a new one. Your travel agent should be able to put in a seat request on your behalf.

    Eventually yes. I send my original e-ticket showing the original fare class, as well as the bid upgrade cancellation and reissued ticket.

    It's an Etihad thing. When you bid upgrade, your fare class gets turned into an award ticket (I class?), so the computer credits you 0.

    It has to be return business too. A mixed business/economy fare is ineligible, I found out the hard way. The stopover programme is operated by Hala Abu Dhabi, but are just as unhelpful as their dealing with their parent company.

    Silver flying economy use the Al Reem Lounge in T1. Gold flying economy use the Al Reem Lounge in T1. Platinum flying economy use the first class lounge in T3. Business any tier use the business lounges in T1 or T3. First any tier use the first class lounge in T3.

    At least where the previous upgrades have just been flat out bad. Etihad Gold can now use the Business class lounge at AUH.

    You collect your bags, declare to quarantine. Walk out of the secure zone. Head right towards the Virgin terminal to the counter that says domestic or international connections. Recheck baggage. Baggage rules will be as per the SA rules.
