    Quick business trip

Next up was the KA flight to HKG. For those that don’t know KA operates an old fleet of aircraft - today’s adventure was on a 24 year old A330. Departure was delayed due to an unserviceable APU resulting in a very hot cabin temperature it took a while to get under control using external air -...

    Quick business trip

I thought I’d give a review on a quick business trip to SFO with a bit of an unusual routing. The trip started in KUL - travelling KUL/HKG/SFO on Cathay Dragon / Cathay Pacific. Firstly I used the MH lounge in KUL - if you’re One World Emerald you’d be crazy to use the CX lounge you’re...

Incident: Malaysia A333 at BNE on Jul 18th 2018

Exactly so could I and that’s my point, we both know that it would be extremely rare for a airline crew to lose control of a plane with this issue, sure it’s very unusual and would get your heart rate up but to lose control and crash it would be a really bad day at the office. Also agree re...

Incident: Malaysia A333 at BNE on Jul 18th 2018

AF crashed because the PF at the time didn’t follow said processes and there was confusion as to who was in charge because the Capt was on rest. Of course if you hold full back stick with all your protections out you’ll stall it but no where in any airbus manual I’ve read does it tell you to do...

Incident: Malaysia A333 at BNE on Jul 18th 2018

There are procedures for a loss of airspeed display on takeoff including flying specific attitudes and thrust settings to get the desired outcome. EY had an almost identical event in BNE due to wasps and also safely landed. It certainly isn’t normal operations and requires declaration of an...

Now that I'm sick... no Qantas Club access

If you don’t need it very often just either swap credit cards every couple years for ones that include the 2 free passes or find a credit card that includes lounge access (Plaza Premium etc).

VA Points / SC Credits - Anyone notice how slow it has become recently

I flew on Monday (now Saturday evening) and no posting yet. This this demonstrates the unprofessionalism of the Velocity program as a Platnium member - I’m also Platnium with QF and their flights always post on the same day.

After a quick fire trip, it was book off to KUL on the train for my flight home on MH. First Class check-in was again a breeze and then I was looking forward to checking out the new MH First Lounge. Firstly into the dining area for breakfast, the furnishings/view were great but the food was...

    5 cities in 5 days

Once in KUL it was the usual 60 minutes wait for the checked bag before heading off to the KILA Ekspres - 30 minutes later I was at KL Sentral. As a Hilton Diamond member I booked in at Hilton KL - great location right at KL Sentral which means you can get anywhere in KL quickly. Upgraded to a...

Few more pictures from JAL.... The western dessert..... Cheese plate..... Once in Bangkok it was off to the transfer desk where I received great news - my B737 flight had been canceled and as a result I was moved onto an A332 flight earlier. MH only got this A332 2 weeks before and it was...

In Tokyo I stayed at the ANA Intercontinental Hotel, it was nearby where I had business and importantly was relatively close to HND Airport (which I arrived at) and had Limousine Buses to NRT Airport which I was departing from. It’s the first time I”ve stayed here and it was fantastic, great...

Stayed in Singapore at the Changi Village Hotel - it’s not 5 Star but I’ve lived in Singapore previously and love the area - there’s no better place for a morning walk.... and a great hawker centre nearby for breakfast.... The following day off to Tokyo in SQ F - unfortunately I lucked out...

First up, Singapore Airlines First Class check in at Sydney was a breeze as usual, I just wish they weren’t so far from the express entry! Off to the F Lounge for a quick snack... Was escorted right to the door of the plane from the lounge which is a great touch. Then on board, sitting in 2F...

    Qantas a330 downgrades

You’ll be fine to CGK - I fly that very frequently and haven’t had the Skybed aircraft for as long as I can remember. You do however almost always get a 200 which isn’t great with the single bathroom.

QF 737 to break sound barrier!

I use to fly jets for a living, just in case the original poster wasn’t intending this as a wind up here’s a couple facts: 1. At Mach 0.78 the aircraft is flying well short of reaching any sound barriers, speeding it up by .01 ain’t going to be anything close 2. Airliners are flown at a cost...
