Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! Have a look at KUL-BKK rtn on Royal Jordanian Business. 120SC for approx $400. MH also does good deals in business every now and then.

BA and QF to return to KL??

Would be good for KUL. The place feels like a ghost town at times, at least by major Asian airport standards.

Is Qantas Platinum Status too easy to earn?

Re: [Repudiated by QF] QF removing Any Seat Awards (ASA) from 08 April 100% points bonus, plat shadow, better seat selection, higher chance of Op-Ups and upgrades. Heck let's throw in the Plat line and coasters in there too. Also rewards them by offering the option of flying Y/Y+ after...

Is Qantas Platinum Status too easy to earn?

The whole discussion is based on the premise that WP benefits are being diluted as a direct result of people taking advantage of Double SC offers and KUPP runs. I don't see the causation. IMO it's just plain old QF stagnation and cost-cutting. If Qantas was ever in a situation where they need...

Is Qantas Platinum Status too easy to earn?

Re: [Repudiated by QF] QF removing Any Seat Awards (ASA) from 08 April I agree to an extent, but to an airline FF programs are High-Revenue Flyers first, Frequent Flyers second. They are guaranteed to favour the flyer flying to HKG rtn in J three times a year than another flyer on the...

Is Qantas Platinum Status too easy to earn?

Re: [Repudiated by QF] QF removing Any Seat Awards (ASA) from 08 April 15-20 will punish those who fly infrequently, on premium classes. They are fantastic for QF - higher revenue/profit, with very little burden on the system.

Marco Polo Diamond refused entry to BNE First Lounge

Out of curiosity, how exactly does the billing work where a pax who is entitled to lounge access but goes in with a different (non-lounge entitled) FF No on the BP? Either way, it's poor that one needs to make do with a clunky workaround (changing FF #s once inside the lounge) to guarantee...

1,024,000 Points vs 700,000 Points (QF vs CX)

I'm pretty sure the OP means CX redemption with Asia Miles vs QF redemption with QFF miles. No chance that the tickets are ASA's so there's no possibility of a longer flight costing less with either QFF or CX AM. For me the more generous QFF earn easily outweighs AM's lower redemption rates. YMMV.

    New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

80A/K is better IMO if legroom is a priority. I personally find the legroom at row 32 to be just enough, so I pick 32B/J for the mini-cabin feel and quicker exit. I think at 6'3", the legroom at row 32 might be a problem - I had <2cm to spare from my feet to the bulkhead when I did my occasional...

    Qf19 & qf20

There's a CX lounge which is pretty similar to the QF one, except with a F section, no toilets and usually not as crowded. From what I hear the F section isn't much (if any) different to the J section.

    New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

Had 32J on QF9. I'm 6ft but had no problem stretching my legs out almost fully horizontally (with a bit of stretching back). Def my first pick in A380Y, should be even better with a Plat shadow.

    Double Status Credits 2013

Thoughts of Flounges certainly helped me through my hoarding instincts which kicked in as I was about to part with my 48000 hard-earned points

africa to south america using oneworld

None, unfortunately. Malaysian used to fly Buenos Aires-Cape Town, but was cancelled prior to joining OW. Your options out of South Africa are limited to BA to London, QF to Sydney or CX to Hong Kong. Other parts of Africa are even worse, with only the European carriers + Royal Jordanian...

Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

re: Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site) Booked a weekend in SIN for approx $420. One leg being QF9 on one of its final trips to boot! May be my last A380 trip for a long time. Massive thanks for the heads up :)

    QF's Asia announcement

Not a fan of morning departures to Asia so this is a bit frustrating. Not to mention being on an older product in most cases. For me, QF is now a long way down the list of options for flying into Asia.

    Restructuring QFF points earn (Hypothetical)

TL;DR post - scroll to the bottom if you can't be coughd reading all of this. There's plenty of negativity on these forums, other forums and media etc. about the QFF program in general - whether it's about terrible burn rates, poor availability, "co-pay" on redemptions, etc. For the most part...

Buy JQ ticket just for lounge access?

Can't see why it wouldn't work, but since we're talking about SIN here, I'd just tough it out at the terminal and spend the ~$30 on more chilli crab :)

Remind me of why I fly Jetstar?

I always find 3K to be consistently good. Food is fine (but I do have shockingly low standards), seat is about on par for a LCC and crew are friendly enough. I quite often score exit rows for free when I ask at the counter, if there are any available. Like others mentioned, I'm now much happier...
