New Ability to Purchase Single-Visit Lounge Passes

I have a family holiday coming up leaving via Sydney International. earliest visibility of available purchase was 2 days price was $84 or 11200QFF each (bit disappointed in that after seeing the 100QFF for MEL!) no First option Two passes for a total of $164 seems a bit much...pretty sure we...

Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

What is the answer? Since that determines if a one-way or return needs to be bought (points or otherwise). Hoping for a cancellation seems a bit imprecise, especially now that more is opening up.

OOL Qantas Club access for Jetstar flights

Well it seems to work OK at CFS and other locations... and anyway, over-policing is effectively happening where eligible people cannot access the QP. At the very least, all the websites need to be updated to make it clear that JQ flights are not included.

OOL Qantas Club access for Jetstar flights

Maybe they should put a reader/pinpad on the door like Coffs Harbour, and then it could be used by eligible people even if there wasn't a Qantas flight.

OOL Qantas Club access for Jetstar flights

Is the OOL QP ever open for the evening Jetstar flights? The last time I flew out about 6 weeks ago, it was closed when I arrived about 1630 with a note saying something about Qantas flights only. The Gold Coast Airport website says "The Qantas Club is available to Qantas Club and Partner...

50% Bonus SCs, 50% Bonus Points Offers (Targeted)

Thanks for the info. I know there is a newish security system in place at Tamworth, but I rather expected airside to include arrivals and departures. Oh well!

50% Bonus SCs, 50% Bonus Points Offers (Targeted)

I need just 25SC before my 31-Oct reset that it looks like I will have to pay for. Cheapest I can see is SYD-TMW-SYD $218.00 return for 30SC (with the 50% bonus) = $7.27/SC. The question is, can I check in for both the depart and return sectors at the same time (and basically walk off the...

50% Bonus SCs, 50% Bonus Points Offers (Targeted)

As far as I can recall, this is the first targeted SC bonus offer I have ever received - and just in time to help me fall over the gold line! My understanding is that SCs are recorded against the date of the flight, not when they are posted. Is that correct? My membership year ends 31-Oct, and...

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options Hi there, It looks like I will be 55 SC short of attaining gold after my current flights are done (mid-Aug). My year ends 31-Oct. It seems a shame to be so close and not make an effort to get over the line, so any suggestions please? (Based in...

AirBNB - Share your experiences here

AirBnB is an interesting development in rental accommodation with lots of parallels to Uber - part of the new "sharing economy". I signed up over 3 years ago, but I have yet to actually stay anywhere with AirBnB. That includes 6 weeks with the family in Europe (2014) and multiple short getaways...

Single Deck trains for Sydney network

It is fantastic that there will actually be a train line to the North West...again. The previous one was ripped up 80? years ago, and it feels a bit like we have been hearing promises from politicians ever since that there will be train line "real soon now"! Something is definitely better than...

    Beating corporate travel policy

Gaz has some great suggestions, and they should have an impact where rationality and flexibility are possible. For those corporate booking systems that are purely rules-based, and human interaction is minimal or non-existent, you have to work out how to work within those rules to get the...

    HHonour points expiring

I tried this successfully: e-Miles: Earn miles for free and redeem towards your favorite reward program . IIRC, it took a few weeks to earn the 500 minimum points required to transfer though, so time may be against you. I successfully kept my points, and used a bunch to pay for accommodation...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S vs IPad

I'm not sure I follow what you mean markis10? I have several Android devices, including the Tab S, all with MicroSD cards installed and operational. Was there some feature that no longer works?

The Ultimate Guide to Driving Overseas

Thanks for that. Neither of those links (or any of the other similar ones) are actually definitive. Given that the IDP is not in Italian, it seems like a rather pointless document, and therefore more than a little self-interest on the part of the auto associations recommending it. However...

    Helsinki recommendations

Helsinki is not the cheapest place in the world! I had these one the list as I did research for September. I found the Finnair one at the top of the list to be the best for me (YMMV), and ended up booking an apartment through their system. Booking.com: 511,586 hotels worldwide. 32+ million...

The Ultimate Guide to Driving Overseas

What is the current requirement for driver's licence in Italy? It seems that there may have been a change in the past year or so, and that your current country licence + an international permit is required. That's all well and good, but the international permit in 10 languages doesn't include...

Extra Border Check in Europe because of fears of stealth bomb hidden by terrorists

Re: Extra Border Check in Europe because of fears of stealth bomb hidden by terrorist I'm not sure I understand exactly how powering on a device solves the potential problem anyway. I have had plenty of devices with secondary battery backs (eg a sleeve). Presumably one battery can power the...

    Travelling with children

Interesting thread (and sub-thread!) I have flown domestically and internationally as a family (4 of us) since the oldest was just a baby. I certainly have no desire to be split over the plane, and always try to organise the seat allocations well in advance to choose the right combination of...

Qantas customer service drops another notch

If you had stuffed both bags in a cardboard box, or into one of those oversize plastic/canvass red/white/blue bags you sometimes see in the $2 shops, they would have taken it as a single bag (less than the magic 32kg). Maybe next time you can go to the oversize baggage counter and get one or...
