    Qantas, you've broken my heart.

Yes, first WP I agree and I'm not disputing thier decision, just a little disappointed. Maintaining WP was the only thing keeping me on Qantas instead of whoever was cheaper. Been comped once back when VA was DJ. Been Gold on Qantas for two years, then WP for one, and now back to Gold...

    Qantas, you've broken my heart.

So. I'm back to being SG after a year at WP. I was 150 status credits short for renewal, and didn't want to ASA my way through because I was saving my points and also unsure of my flying load for the next year. I'm not complaining so much about the drop, I understand how the system works. I...

    Trip to Mars

If you don't care about kicking up a lot of dust, landing on retro-rockets is acceptable. The reason that the rovers have all shied away from this is because the resulting dust cloud can cover solar panels and jam delicate mechanisms. Landing a vehicle full of people on Mars should be doable...

    Trip to Mars

I know this is horribly off topic, but I'm hoping there's a few aerospace nerds here to make this worthwhile: Mars One project is a not-for-profit aiming to send human beings on a one way trip to Mars to establish a permanent colony. I know this sounds extremely far-fetched, but the mission...

Self Serve Sandwich Bar in Qantas Club

The lounge is meant to be for convenience. I don't feel that having to make my own food is convenient. Next they'll have a station of wet-wipes so we can wipe down our own tables before we sit down. Maybe they'll invent a system where each row on the aircraft helps push the self service meal...

Bookings through Qantas Hotels don't count?

Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, I looked and didn't find it. I booked my xmas holiday at the Hilton Residences Surfers Paradise via the Qantas Hotels website. Immediately after my stay, my Qantas points were credited. I was expecting my HHonors points to credit too, but the...

When does business travel again ramp up?

Straight back into it next week. SYD - BNE return, then SYD - PER return, then SYD - MEL return all before Australia day.

Win a Qantas Trinket celebrating the QF/EK partnership

Ok, off topic, but this is something I want to see. I saw the Qantas / Emirates flyover from the Opera House and it was spectacular. Flying one of everything in the fleet, in formation, would really be a sight to see. Excellent publicity too. Just seeing a Dash 8 chasing an a380 would be...

Dress Standards and Should P1 get CL access?

When I arrive in the lounge, it's usually because I've been with a client and therefor am wearing 'business' attire. I usually then freshen up in the showers and change into 'casual' clothes (t-shirt, jeans, sneakers). I thought that the lounge was provided specifically so I could get...

    Ask The Pilot

    381. Missed it by that much. The medical requirements for flying a Jabiru under RA-Aus (Recreational Aviation) are mostly the same as for getting a driver's licence. And if you do get the chance to fly an ultralight (Jabiru, Foxbat, etc), do take it.

My Plus 1 has just made WP. What fringe benefits to follow????????????

What would happen if I were to buy an JQ from T1 ticket, arrive at the lounge and stay there. No intention of actually boarding the plane.

    I did it: Gold

Oh, and this was all in domestic Y btw.

    I did it: Gold

Well, almost exactly a year after making Gold, this morning I just watched that Gold turn into a Platinum. My sincere thanks to everyone here for helping me do this status alchemy. :D So, what's next?

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Had me going for a second there too. Well done.

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

Priority boarding worked perfectly at Sydney today for a330 flight to Perth. Two scanners for the plebs, one scanner for business and premium. Reckon we can get Priority baggage collection next? I'm getting a bit sick of the scrum at the conveyour belt. Lets spread the non-premiums down to...

    Perth Qantas lounge

Not sure where the (additional) resentment would come from? I already resent being in the vicinity of loud, swearing, drunks. The solution (which is what we're getting anyway) is to make one of the lounges more like a pub - clusters of chairs for 'conversation', sportsball on the televisor and...

Best seats in J class on Qantas 747 top deck [4 class config]

To be honest, the extra exit row space doesn't actually do much for you, the spacing is already comfortable.
